Ore mining has been started initially in 19.05.1938 by Etibank in Divriği which is located 180 km faraway from Sivas and in which railway line is passing through. The Company was sold to EREGLI IRON AND STEEL WORKS CO with tender offer by Privatization Administration in 15.04.2004 and its title has been changed to ERDEMIR MINING INDUSTRY AND TRADE INC. by OYAK Group in 27.02.2006 the Compmany has
been carrying on its activity with same title. The Company has 14 iron ore mine sites and 1 manganese mine site in varios locations of our country. The Company who sold lump ore initially has started benefication investments and Concentration Plant has been started up in 1985, subsequently Pelletizing Plant has been started up in 1986. In parallel with modernization investments done as of 2006, environment investments have been given importance and dedusting and gas purifying systems, tailings impoundment, landscaping and planting investments have been completed. Total quantity of iron ore production in Turkey is 4-4,5 million tones per year in average, however the required quantity for the current steel figure is 10 million tones per year and only 45 % of this requirement is met from domestic resources. The remaining part is imported from other countries. Our Company produces 50% of Turkey iron ore production and met 20% of iron ore requirement of our country. Erdemir Maden is the only company met the raw material requirement of steel industry and is among the first 500 Big Industry Enterprises of Turkey. Products: Pellet, pellet cake, lump magnetite, lump hematite, fine hematite, fine ore for cement, caliber ore, washed ore.
