National Energy today met with representatives of the Commercial Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of CARICOM and Foreign Affairs.

The Division, established in January 2026, shared insight into energy-related investment interest in Trinidad and Tobago and discussed National Energyโ€™s role in supporting new energy investment.

On Monday 14th September, National Energyโ€™s assets supported the historic loadout of the Shell Manatee jacket, the largest jacket ever fabricated in Trinidad and Tobago.

The CD-01 barge, which was used to receive and transport the jacket, was initially positioned at National Energyโ€™s Berth 3 for pre-loadout work before being moved to Berth 2 at the Port of Brighton for the loadout.

National Energyโ€™s tugboats, the ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ ๐ฒ ๐•๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ and ๐๐„๐‚ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž, supported the operation. The ๐•๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ assisted with repositioning and supporting the barge, while the ๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ž remained on standby to provide emergency support if required.

The jacket was fabricated at the LABIDCO-owned Fabrication Yard, which is operated by TOFCO.

From learning about our operations to proposing ideas that could improve them, National Energyโ€™s vacation interns have made the most of their time with us.

Last Friday, 21 August, they presented their final group projects at the culmination event for our 2026 Vacation Internship Programme. Since joining us in July, their experience has included:

โœ…Visiting our fleet and tug mooring facilities
โœ…Touring the Port of Galeota
โœ…Visiting the Port of Brighton and La Brea Industrial Estate, managed by LABIDCO
โœ…Developing practical rรฉsumรฉ-writing and interview skills
โœ…Learning how to manage their personal, professional and online reputations
โœ…Working in teams to develop innovative ideas that could add value to National Energyโ€™s operations

As they prepare for their final day with us tomorrow, we hope they return to university and other tertiary studies with greater confidence, valuable workplace experience and a clearer sense of the professionals they want to become. We wish them every success as they carry forward the lessons learned and the commitments they have made to themselves.

The findings confirmed that the LABIDCO Administration Building and Warehouse 2 are structurally sound and in good condition. Importantly, Warehouse 2 can accommodate the proposed installation of several solar panels without requiring structural modifications.

The project can now move to its next phase.

This project forms part of the Governmentโ€™s 2026 Public Sector Investment Programme, which identified the Port of Brighton for solar installation, targeting a 36% renewable energy threshold. See less
