Follow up on Work Flow and a lil history on the unit: About two weeks ago I checked this unit, The customer said they turned it on and a few minutes after the condensor would cut off and it wasn't colding. I checked it and discovered that there was no gas in the system. I asked how long the unit stopped colding, they said they haven't used it for almost five months, and jus recently tried it out but it wasn't colding. I pressure tested it and found no leaks because the unit had been down for so long, so I explained the risk and the losses involved and both of us took agreed to our losses and it is an 18KBTU unit.. I gassed it up and told the customer that as soon as it stops colding to call me because we understood that there is a leak. It didn't last a day, the unit stop working again. Last week I pressure tested the unit and found a leak on an elbow, which I repaired. I pressure tested it that same day after the repair and no leaks were found on the unit. I was happy, customer was satisfied to have their unit working again... It lasted about three day and yesterday I pressure tested it again and found a leak on the last elbow, I repaired it, and pressure tested it again to be sure there is no leak, but found another elbow leaking. So I brazed all the elbows to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I pressure tested and it looked good and ready for gassing, so I did. Luckily for me the customers are very pleasant and understanding people :) So far since I've started this business, God blessed me with really nice customers.. But not everyone will be like this. When jobs move to the point of constant call backs, even if it is not my fault, I still look bad. Even if I am suffering losses to repair units in this condition not all customers will understand my losses through discounts and losses through time and materials used during the process of making these units work again. Normally customers will see the money coming out of their pockets, some may think I am sabotaging their units for work to keep my cash flowing, which is detrimental to my reputation as a businessman with over 10 years experience in troubleshooting and repairs, and I believe in honest work. Another reason I shared this experience is that if anyone has to braze all of the elbows and the unit is still leaking, It means that it is porous and beyond repairs, and therefore either that particular condensor or evaporator needs to be replaced. God Bless :)
