Labour Day is more than a public holiday. It is a tribute to the workers whose courage, determination, and advocacy helped shape the rights and protections we enjoy today. In Trinidad and Tobago, the day also serves as a reminder of the legacy of labour leaders such as Tubal Uriah “Buzz” Butler, whose efforts championed the dignity and value of work.

As we reflect on that legacy, we celebrate the people who continue to keep our country moving forward every day. Through our Behind the Nozzle series, we have had the privilege of highlighting some of the dedicated individuals whose hard work, commitment, and passion power our operations and serve our communities.

This Labour Day, we honour all workers past and present and extend our sincere appreciation to every member of the Unipet family and the wider workforce of Trinidad and Tobago.

We are proud to share that Convenience Pay Technologies Limited has been granted provisional registration by the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago as both an E-Money Issuer (EMI) and Payment Service Provider (PSP).

As a company with deep roots in the energy sector, we have continuously evolved to meet the changing needs of our customers and communities. This achievement represents another important step in our journey to create innovative, convenient, and connected experiences that extend beyond traditional energy solutions.

This milestone reflects the vision, dedication, and collective efforts of our teams, partners, and stakeholders who have helped bring this ambition to life.

On June 3, 2026, the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago registered Convenience Pay Technologies Limited (Convenience Pay) as a Payment Service Provider and granted Convenience Pay a provisional registration, authorising it to issue electronic money (e-money) in Trinidad and Tobago for a 6-month period. The company is a subsidiary of United Independent Petroleum Marketing Company Limited (UNIPET).

Under the terms of the provisional registration, Convenience Pay is allowed to enlist new customers in a controlled environment monitored by the Central Bank.
