DESCRIPTION
To celebrate Open Data Day, Crowd2Map, Data Zetu and HOT have organised this free 3 day event at the Institute of Rural Development Planning, Mwanza, where you can learn:
> What Open Data is available in Tanzania and how can it be of benefit to you
> What tools are available to contribute to Open Data?
We will cover:
1. What is OpenStreetMap and how it can help Tanzania.
2. What training materials are available.
3. How to map your area using satellite images on a laptop, and apps on your phone
4. How to use the app Maps.Me - good practice, how to edit points, problem solving of any issues, particularly around uploading.
5. Editing OSM in ID on a laptop: Removing duplicates particularly those from Maps.Me, adding land use
6. QGIS -How to create village and district level maps ready for printing
7. Validation: best practices

Next steps, taking it forward
There will a mix of talks, discussions and practical workshops.
Please bring a laptop and/or smartphone if you have one.
