Back from FinnBuild 2026 - thank you, Helsinki! 🇫🇮

Our CEO, Alexander Naumov, has returned from FinnBuild, where he represented ODDIN and met people from across the construction and engineering industry.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to welcome him at their stands, introduce their teams and exchange ideas. Meeting face to face gives us a better understanding of the people, priorities and practical challenges behind each business.

We hope those conversations will turn into opportunities to put the experience of our 80+ engineers to work for the companies we met - helping them take on new projects, ease the pressure on their teams and move confidently towards their next deadlines.

It was a pleasure getting to know you, and we look forward to continuing the conversations and finding the right opportunities to work together. 🤝

It is a reminder that independence is not simply something written into history. It is something that has to be protected, strengthened and built every single day through the courage of our defenders, the resilience of our people, and the determination of Ukrainian businesses and professionals who continue moving forward despite everything. 💙💛

At ODDIN, we are proud to be a Ukrainian engineering company working internationally and representing Ukrainian expertise across borders. 🌍 Every project we deliver, every partnership we build and every new market we enter is another opportunity to show what Ukrainian engineers, specialists and businesses are capable of.

🔩 Some steel connections are difficult not because they are visually complex, but because their real behaviour is not easy to confirm by hand.

In one of our projects, Steel Warehouse in Iceland, our engineering team worked on a rigid beam-to-column connection for a frame structure designed with seismic loads taken into account. 🌍

The key challenge was not only checking the strength of the plates, bolts and welds. The more important question was whether the connection actually behaved as a rigid joint, as assumed in the global structural model, or whether in reality it should be treated as semi-rigid.

📐 This is where manual verification becomes extremely limited. Correctly evaluating joint stiffness and local plastic deformations in such a connection is not something that can be done reliably with simple hand calculations.

Using IDEA StatiCa, our engineers were able to analyse the connection behaviour in detail, check the main components, and verify that the adopted design assumptions were consistent with the actual performance of the joint. 💻

For ODDIN, tools like IDEA StatiCa are important not only for calculation efficiency, but also for engineering confidence. They allow us to go beyond approximate assumptions and better understand how complex steel connections really work.
