It’s just a small garage — why bother with load combinations, member design, and connection checks, right? 👷♂️
Wrong. Dead wrong.
Even a 5×5 m garage has to stand against real forces — snow, wind, uneven ground, and time. One skipped load combination or a “good enough” beam, and suddenly that “simple” structure isn’t so simple anymore.
Need proof? Let’s go back to Burnaby, Canada, 1988.
A new supermarket had just opened, with a rooftop parking deck above it. On opening day, that roof collapsed — dragging about 20 cars down into the store. 💥
The cause? An undersized beam and poor buckling resistance.
Twenty-one people were hospitalized. Thankfully, no one died.
The aftermath changed engineering in British Columbia forever — new laws, tighter design rules, and stronger oversight for structural engineers.
All that, because someone underestimated a beam.
That’s why Eurocodes, National Annexes, and regional standards (like AISC in the US) exist — not as red tape, but as the foundation of safety.
At ODDIN, our engineers live and breathe these standards:
🧠 10 + years of experience across buildings, bridges, and complex steel structures.
⚙️ Static analysis, connection design, and load simulations using the most advanced tools.
🌍 Full compliance with every relevant code and annex — because every country, and every project, deserves precision.
Whether it’s a stadium or a small garage, precision isn’t optional — it’s what keeps roofs above our heads.
