JOB DUTIES
Carry out daily/routine cultural crop practices for field grown crops
Will be in charge of nursery and management; he/she will nature top quality seedlings with minimal seedling losses.
Carry out daily/routine scouting for pests and diseases and formulate actual and factual pest and diseases management schedules
Carry out spraying for pests and diseases following recommended spray procedures and spraying other foliar fertilizers as per fertilization schedule
Fertigate and apply all necessary fertilizers as required per crop growth stage
Maintain, monitor and irrigate the crops as per specific crop water requirements
Monitor greenhouse temperature and humidity levels and apply all corrective measures as required
Carry out harvesting and post-harvest handling of produce
Maintain and care for the green house structure including cleaning the cladding material and as per required standard practices
Ensure that both the interior and exterior greenhouse environment are immaculate and are not a source of inoculum
Record scientifically all greenhouse operations carried out; eg crop care, fertilization, spraying, etc
Monitor soil and soil nutrients and be able to apply effective corrective measures based on science
Report weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly on all greenhouse operations and be able to draw logical conclusions and plans for future farm operations.

Sufficient experience in horticultural environment and familiarity with horticultural production techniques.
Knowledge on other horticultural suitable crops is highly desirable.
Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet farm core values
Good diagnostic and decision making skills
Strong computer skills; Microsoft office, email, internet etc
Proven ability to efficiently communicate verbally and in written
Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives without close supervision, self-motivated and good work ethics.
Desire and love for service in agriculture including serving other farmers
Willingness to work as a team member
Desire to remain updated with new agricultural trends and technology
Ability to learn quickly
Ability to determine work priorities
Ability to make decisions and take appropriate actions
Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work
Accurate and attentive to detail
Able to operate and use computers, EC meter, PH meter, Thermometer. Able to operate a sprayer either a knapsack or motorized one.
Knowledge of supervisor’s point of view and priorities
DEADLINES IN THE JOB
Timely planning and executing of farm work/ activities
Timely reporting (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly as shall be required)
QUALIFICATION
Minimum: certificate in general agriculture
Desirable: A national diploma in agriculture with experience will be an added advantage.
