Why does it cost so much?

That board, 2x10x16’ cedar, just ONE, cost $224. I was equally surprised when they rang up two of them.

This material comes from Canada, so you can be assured the price will increase when tariffs go into effect on future inventory.

We are always looking for alternative cost effective solutions for our clients but sometimes you just can’t avoid the expense.

Old carport transformed to grand entrance!

Originally we were going to install fir strips over the existing old covering. As we inspected, it was in pretty bad shape and was old gypsum board (drywall).

After the inspection we pivoted quickly and decided to strip everything off of the framing, clean it up, add some trim on the perimeter and simply clear coat it.

If you know me - I love the old wood and especially love how it comes to life with a good clear coat!

A chandelier of sorts will be installed to really set the stage for a nice focal point.

This will be a beauty worth sharing again when it’s all finished.

The man behind the name and the hours put in, Ron Clayton, Jr. is the beginning of this business. RC Clayton Contracting is not an overnight story. This journey started long ago with the encouragement of a father (Ron Sr.) who had two rules for using his tools - don’t lose them and don’t break them. With certainty, both of those rules were broken on numerous occasion. Funny, he holds dearly a few of those tools still today. They may not make it to a job site, but they hang proudly in his barn. Home is where the interest, opportunity and skills were honed. Not only the home he grew up in, but the homes he has lived in between Illinois, Ohio and here in the great republic of Texas. Always remodeling, improving and turning each house into a home. Along they way many incredible tradesmen invested experiences and learnings in masonry, carpentry, painting, roofing, drywall, building decks, pergola, etc. But, all along the way the Ultimate Carpenter was pushing hard for this to become a full time career, and he finally pushed him through the door.

RC Clayton Contracting isn’t just about the project, to us it means building a relationship with customers and creating things that they could not do themselves. It is about using God given talents in order to show people that their dream house, backyard, room or building is no longer a dream, but a reality. There is a love that is held in each project that is worked on. We pride ourselves on giving customers what they want while encouraging them to consider alternatives that will enhance the end result, all in an efficient, courteous and professional manner. RC Clayton Contracting is about the people, the projects are just an added bonus!
