Kid was super fast this weekend glad to be a part of this Kids racing career

LONG POST WARNING...

It has been a while since we have updated everyone on our boys journey... but our main focus the past few months has been on getting our boy back on the track as the race car driver we know he is!

TBH its been a Rollercoaster ride ever since Greyson wrecked over the summer and totaled his car.

Fortunately with the help of so many amazing people who believe in Greyson's dream we were able to get him a brand new chassis and get him back on the track this season.

With a new car comes LOTS of learning I dont think we really thought would effect our racer. We assumed Greyson would jump in and pick back up like nothing ever happened. Greyson had to figure out a new car that was completely different from the car he was so comfortable in.

On top of that he also had to fight past the fear of wrecking again. Every race since his wreck turn 1 and 2 have NOT been a favorite as we could clearly see he would not drive through like we were use to seeing him drive through.... understandably!

The past couple races we FINALLY saw our racer come to life again about 5 laps left of the features he was in. Just seeing him come to life whether he was in last place or mid pack was the most exciting sight to see! And yes we cheered every time as if he won because in our hearts he was winning the battle within himself!

Lets fast forward to this weekend!

Going into this weekend we told Greyson the car is set up beautifully and he HAS the car and HAS the speed but now it all comes down to the driver. Its time to drive the car and get back to the Greyson Henry everyone knows he is on that track!

Friday night in his heat he went P5 to P4 starting midpack in the feature. He was more determined than ever to get the win! He started the race strong and started moving up but unfortunately the rectifire had other plans for Greyson causing him to have to pull off ending his night. He was completely devastated because he felt AMAZING during the race for the 1st time in a while!

Saturday night he came READY!!

Heat race he started P1 and ended the race with a checked flag! BOY WAS FAST!!! But starting P1 and not getting passing points put him starting P4 in the feature with some fast racers in front of him. He knew he needed to lock in and get the job done! Having the fastest car that night on the track there was no excuse!

Shortly after the start of the race he and another driver made very little contact causing the other driver to spin out. For whatever reason the call was made that Greyson be put to the back on the restart but life's unfair and there was nothing we could do about it. Little did we know that call we thought was so unfair was THE call Greyson needed to prove to himself he CAN drive his new car JUST as he drove his old car!

Kid went from the back of the pack like a bullet to P2 and chased P1 down the rest of the race! He did not let P1 get too far out of sight and followed him through the checkered!!! Anthony Reaves is one of the BEST and for Greyson to track him down and follow his lead and show he can keep up with the best of the best was everything he truly needed in that moment!

We couldn't be more proud of Greyson and soooo happy he finally found the racer we ALL know he is on that track this weekend!!

Caleb Henry has worked so hard to get this car's set up top notch for Grey race after race and as a team they did the damn thing this weekend and we all couldn't be more proud!!!!

We dont say this enough or give credit where credit is due as we should but this journey this season absolutely would NOT be possible if we we didnt have the love ans support from all of our sponsors, family and friends!!

We set a goal for Turf Nationals for Harley and Rooster to gain experience running at a new track alongside the best racers throughout the country.

With the Pete Frazier Memorial running at a different local track, they canceled Junior Sprints. We were bummed but still excited for Harley.

Two days before the race, we discovered that the Daryl’s Appliance and Furniture Turf Tire Nationals was being moved to Port City Raceway, where they were putting on the Pete Frazier Memorial. With that, we had to cancel our Airbnb and scramble to find a new one, but now Rooster would be able to race! He was super pumped!

Our experience with Port City Raceway was met with open arms from the start. With so many posts between three pages, I tried my luck at asking for three spots inside the pits, and the amazing Kristy McDougal made it happen!

Friday night was met with so much excitement and nervousness!

Although in his second year running in Junior Sprints, Rooster still has so much to learn about driving the car, along with how to drive on a different track and adapt. He started inside pole in his heat and dropped to 5th place, leaving him to run in the B-main. He started 3rd in the B-main and finished 6th, which got him into the A-main, where he started last (20th). The A-main was a wild one for him, but he was able to finish in 15th! Super proud of him!

Our nerves were shot with Harley before she even made it out on the track. This was her 3rd time ever running in Turf and with these guys, passion run high!
Her heat was terrific. She started and finished in 2nd, automatically putting her in the A-main, where she started 11th and finished 16th.

Moving on to Saturday night

Rooster started 8th in his heat and finished 7th, leaving him to run in the B-main. He started 4th and moved up to 2nd, but between getting too excited and his brakes not working, he spun another driver out along with himself and did not transfer to the A-main.

Harley started her night strong. She started 6th in the heat and finished 3rd, placing her in the A-main. This race had so many cautions, and we are beyond proud of how she handled herself throughout the entire race. She started 10th and was able to move up to 6th place, giving these guys a run for their money. After a few more cautions and losing her spot to save the car, she finished 13th.

Harley won the best-appearing car award (thank you for all the likes) and was named Rookie of the Year. We also learned that she is the first female competitor in the Turf Tire Nationals event history!

Port City Raceway holds a special place in our hearts, and if Rooster had a choice, it would be his hometown track! This past weekend was an incredible experience for these kids, and once again, we can't thank all of their supporters enough! We truly couldn't do this without you all!
