Boldly Built

10/16/2026

After careful consideration of the recent rise in travel costs, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Boldly Built on November 13-14, 2026. Thank you to everyone who supports this event and our vision. We remain committed to bringing meaningful education and connection to the farrier community, and we look forward to sharing what’s next.

We’re especially thankful to our auction donors. Their generosity means so much, and donated items will still be featured in online auctions throughout the year. Watch our page for details and opportunities to bid, and thank you for continuing to support Boldly Built.

It's time for clinician highlights! I'm so excited to introduce the AFA's very own Martha Jones.

Martha was raised in Carmel, Indiana where her family owned several lovely pasture ornaments whose primary responsibilities were grazing and trail rides. She graduated from Purdue University in 2000, and currently resides in Aubrey, Texas with her husband, Dave. She is very proud of her bonus boys – Collin, 24, also lives in Aubrey and works at US Lime and Easton, 21, is active-duty USAF stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.

Martha has spent nearly her entire career in association management. Beginning with the Associated Builders & Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky, a commercial/industrial contractor association, in 2005, continuing on to the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville, a residential contractor association, in 2016, and then joining the AFA in 2019, she has spent over 20 years in trade associations. Starting as an Education Coordinator, her career path has led her into leadership positions in state, regional and national organizations.

She is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, Dallas Ft. Worth Association Executives and the Purdue Alumni Association. She enjoys being outdoors, swimming, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family in her free time.

Its time for clinician highlights! I'm proud to introduce Lori McBride Cjf. Many of you probably already know her thanks to her work with the AFA certification program.

Lori McBride is a Certified Journeyman Farrier with the American Farriers Association (AFA), proudly holding the distinction of being the first woman in her home state of Ohio to achieve this prestigious level of certification. With decades of experience under her belt, Lori combines technical expertise with a practical, everyday approach to horseshoeing that prioritizes the health and performance of every horse she works with. In addition to her farrier work, Lori serves as an Examiner with the AFA, helping to mentor and evaluate the next generation of farriers. Over the years, she has competed in farriery competitions, earning several high-point awards and even a "Best Shod Foot" honor. While not a top competitor by her own admission, Lori’s passion lies in providing solid, reliable hoof care for a wide variety of horses. Her practice is as diverse as her skill set, ranging from eventers and therapy horses to miniature donkeys and everything in between. However, her heart holds a special place for Arabians, which remain her favorite breed to work with. Lori lives in Ohio with her husband and is a proud mother to five children, though only four still live at home. When she's not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, continuing to hone her craft, and sharing her love for horses and farriery with others.
