⛽ National Petroleum Day: August 27

On this day in 1859, Edwin L. Drake drilled the first commercial oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania. This achievement marked the beginning of the modern petroleum industry in the United States.

More than 160 years later, petroleum remains a vital resource, powering economies, connecting communities, and fueling innovation. Here in Alaska, it has played a key role in shaping our state’s history, economy, and infrastructure.

At Nordic-Calista, we honor this legacy while looking ahead to continue providing safe, efficient, and innovative drilling solutions that meet Alaska’s energy needs today and into the future.
