Masterpiece Construction is now Oak Hollow Design Build.
We changed the name because “construction” says contractor, and that was never how we worked. We’re a design-build firm. We help you design the home, we give you our honest opinion, and we build it — one team, from the first sketch to the final walk-through.
A mentor of mine told me to brand the way we actually work. He was right.
The name is deliberate. An oak grows slowly, roots deep, and stands for a hundred years. That’s how we want the homes we build to last.
The hollow is my mother’s family. They come from coal country in Whitesville, West Virginia, where families settle into the hollows and stay for generations. My great-grandfather mined coal and walked home for lunch covered head to toe in it.
My father’s side farmed to***co and hogs in Cameron, North Carolina. At harvest, the neighbors came together to bring in the to***co and hang it in the barns to cure. They canned their own vegetables and raised their own pork. The farmhouse was so drafty my dad slept under a dozen quilts his grandmother had sewn, then ran down each morning to the kitchen wood stove, the only heat in the house.
Those are people who built with their hands, worked hard, and looked after each other. That’s who we come from, and it’s how we try to work.
What hasn’t changed: the same people, the same standard, the same number — 214-799-0279. The NARI Remodeler of the Year recognition we earned carries forward with us. Our process has a new name, The Composed Build, and it runs the way it always has — every selection locked before we break ground, and no allowances.

Same people. Same phone number. A name we intend to keep for a very long time.
