Welcome to LivFul!

This is what we said to the companies of Sci-Tech Daresbury’s Innovation Centre when they joined us for an open morning yesterday.

Our UK team has fully moved into their new offices and labs, and we invited our neighbours to come and get to know us better over a coffee and some pastries! They got a chance to meet us, and our Co-CEO Matt Elsberry who was over from the States with us. They were also able to tour our offices and labs to see what we’ve made of the spaces we are now working in.

Last week, Andy Mahler (CEO global health) had the chance to represent LivFul at two important global health gatherings during the seventy-eighth World Health Assembly in Geneva — both deeply relevant to our work with STAYTEC™ enhanced insect repellents.

Andy joined the International Society for Neglected Tropical Diseases (ISNTD) event on arboviruses, where he was interviewed (we'll share that once it’s live), and later that day, attended the Merck session: “Innovation meets Unity: Advancing Global Health Solutions for Africa” — an unexpected but valuable addition to the agenda.

Insect-borne diseases like malaria and other NTDs remain a daily threat for millions. And practical, scalable solutions do exist, they need to be better known, better supported, and better used.

STAYTEC™ is LivFul’s contribution to that effort. It enhances the properties of the active ingredient IR3535® a well know WHO-listed repellent. The technology prolongs the protection time up to 14hrs, while it is designed to limit the skin pe*******on, increasing the efficiency of the repelling lotion.

Andy also connected with Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases — and we’re hopeful this is just the start of more meaningful collaboration.

Malaria. Dengue. Chikungunya. NTDs. It’s not just about innovation — it’s about saving lives and making that innovation accessible where it matters most.

We’re almost all moved in!

Our new offices at Sci-Tech Daresbury are finished, and we’ve been moving offices these last couple of weeks.

It makes a big difference having all our furniture and things moved in, and we’re still working out the best way to have our desks laid out, but we love our new space, and it’s starting to feel like we are at home here!

There are some final touches yet to be done: We’re looking for some artwork to make it more colourful and are working on some designs to put on the meeting room glass wall so it doesn’t feel like a fishbowl. And our technical team is finalizing their move and will be joining us in the same room soon.

We’re on the move!

After four great years split between the Innovation Centre and our two labs in ITAC (STFC) on the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus, we are finally bringing the LivFul family together under one roof.

We’ve taken on a larger space in the Innovation Centre, which will soon house both our offices and our labs. For the first time, our technical and regulatory team and the wider global teams — marketing, quality and operations — will be working side by side, to take the organisation to the next level.

This move is all about better collaboration, greater inclusion and continuing to grow as a business that's making real strides towards LivFul’s vision of delivering transformative health solutions for the world’s underserved populations.

We’ve kicked things off with a 'team building' day on Monday 28th April to build our new desks and start moving from the current office with the lab move scheduled for next week. We even had some help building from our Co-CEO Hogan Bassey! Yes, there was competition to see who could build a desk the fastest.

We’ll share more once we’re all moved in and we can’t wait to see what we build together in our new home. Make sure you come over and say hello!

Exciting things are happening for our Liverpool Team! They are moving…

It has been confirmed that we’ll be taking over this blank space and creating two labs and a joint office space in the Innovation Centre of the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus!

This brings our technical team together with the rest of the teams in Liverpool for the first time. Up until now, our labs have been located across the campus from the offices, so joining together will allow greater collaboration and alignment for everyone.

We can’t wait to show you how things are going and the final product – follow us to see how things go!

Students at Lagos State University, Info. Official Page. have an opportunity to dance for joy this week! Not only are their commencement ceremonies coming up (Congratulations to you all!), but Akiva has just donated some samples of AKIVA Anti-Mosquito Lotion to them as a part of an initiative to help students stay safe and protected from mosquito bites while they study, socialize, and thrive!

The dean of the university, Dr. Abiodun Fatai Abatan, said:

What was your childhood dream?

One of our Co-Founders, Hogan Bassey, knew from a young age that he wanted to help those that need access to medical treatment. He grew up in Nigeria and experienced first-hand the struggles of Malaria in a country where mosquitos don’t really have a season because they are prevalent year-round!

Hogan battled malaria multiple times before the age of ten. His unwavering determination led him to a breakthrough—realizing that preventing mosquito bites could protect his health. Through ingenuity and resourcefulness, he created his own insect repellent using household chemicals. However, he later discovered that repellents already existed; the issue was lack of access.

This realization fuelled Hogan's passion and dream to bridge the accessibility gap. Hogan seized the opportunity to develop an insect repellent that could protect people from these disease-carrying mosquitoes. Collaborating with respected scientists, he dedicated himself to perfecting a product that not only showed excellent protection but also surpassed the performance of other available active ingredients at the same concentration. Thanks to our patented control-release technology, STAYTEC™, LivFul’s repellent is not only highly effective but also non-sticky, non-oily, and doesn’t stink like other repellents can.

In the midst of the Lunar New Year celebrations, we have reached another crucial milestone!

We’ve received notification of registration approval of our Enhanced Insect Repellent (EIR) in China!

Luxembourg Pharmaceuticals Ltd has been processing this application as our white label partner, and we are thrilled that this has finally come through for them.

Established in the mid 50’s, Luxembourg’s Mrs Pearl brand has for long been a household name in Hong Kong’s pharmacies. While the Mrs Pearl brand focuses on upper respiratory tract products, in 2009 Luxembourg expended their offering to innovative and functional personal health care products, providing all families with safe and effective new solutions for high-quality life.

Their MosquitOut Pro STAYTEC™ enhanced insect repellent strengthened their already successful Pearl’s insect repellents portfolio a few years ago.

We are very excited about this opening of the Chinese mainland market for them. China deals with several mosquito-borne diseases including dengue, Japanese encephalitis, malaria, scrub typhus, and chikungunya.

We are celebrating!

We are proud to announce that the USA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved our Enhanced Insect Repellent!

This long expected approval means so much to us and opens many doors for the use of our Enhanced Insect Repellent (EIR) in places it’s needed. And, yes, that means the USA! Several vector-borne diseases are prevalent in the USA, and our EIR can help protect people from the bite of mosquitos that carry them, while offering a new, unexpected and positive user experience.

This news gives us the impetus to start 2025 off with a bang and push forward to see the further success of LivFul throughout the year. We hope you join us in a celebratory whoop for this news, and follow us for other celebrations throughout the year!
