How Does Fabric Protector Work?
Fabric protectors create a protective barrier on or around the fibers that helps reduce the ability of spills, oils, and soils to pe*****te and bond to the material.
Think of it as giving the fibers an extra line of defense.
When properly applied, a quality protector can:
• Help liquids bead up, giving customers more time to blot a spill
• Make oily and dry soils easier to remove
• Help reduce permanent staining
• Make routine vacuuming and maintenance more effective
• Make future professional cleaning easier
• Help extend the clean appearance of carpet, rugs, and upholstery
What Fabric Protector DOESN'T Do
One of the most important things to explain to customers is that protected doesn't mean stain-proof.
Spills should still be addressed quickly, and protected fabrics still require regular maintenance and professional cleaning.
The difference is that protector gives the customer a much better chance of removing a spill before it becomes a permanent problem.
Why Does Protector Wear Off?
Fabric protection isn't permanent.
Normal foot traffic, abrasion, vacuuming, spills, cleaning, and everyday use gradually reduce the effectiveness of the protective treatment.
That's why we recommend discussing reapplication after professional cleaning, particularly on high-use carpet and upholstery.
The Perfect Time to Apply Protector
Right after professional cleaning.
The fibers are clean, contaminants that could interfere with the treatment have been removed, and you're already on the job.
For cleaners, that makes fabric protection an excellent additional service—and for customers, it helps protect the investment they just made in having their textiles professionally cleaned.
