🔥 Woodstove / Firepit Season 101 🔥

Let’s talk firewood basics so you get the most heat for your money 👇

1️⃣ How to stack wood
• Keep it off the ground (on pallets or a rack)
• Stack it loosely so air can move through
• Cover the top only, not the sides
• Keep it away from the house to avoid bugs & moisture

2️⃣ How to tell if wood is seasoned
• Logs have cracks on the ends
• Bark is loose or falling off
• Wood feels lighter than a fresh-cut log
• When you knock two pieces together, you hear a nice hollow “clack,” not a dull thud

3️⃣ Hardwood vs softwood
• Hardwoods (elm, sycamore, locust, etc.) burn hotter and longer, so you use less wood
• Softwoods (like fir, pine) are great for starting fires and getting things going fast
• Best combo: softwood to start the fire, hardwood to hold heat all night
