"Apple has 700,000 factory workers employed in China, and that was because it needed 30,000 engineers on-site to support those workers. You can't find that many in America to hire" – Steve Jobs

"Engineers have always played a prominent role in driving innovation and creating jobs. As a nation we've made incredible progress on education, helping students to finance their college educations, but we

still don't have enough engineers" – President Obama

As future leaders of this great nation, our mission is to answer the President’s call to develop leadership skills and expand real world experiences in an exciting environment so our members become leaders in a global economy dependent on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) will Drive this Country Forward . Northwest Robotics is a new club started this year, 2012 which focuses on building a robot to enter the FIRST Robotics Competition, held every spring. Teams of high school students compete to build robots that can complete a challenge, which changes every year. Last year's theme was basketball, so teams had to construct a robot, that can operate autonomously as well as when guided by wireless controls to pick up a ball and put it in a basket. Challenge details are revealed at the beginning of January and the teams are given six weeks to construct a competitive robot.
