Good morning, Shelby County.

It appears that Sunday it will dip well below freezing and will stay there until Thursday. Frozen pipes and flooded homes are something many of us have experienced over the last few years. Let’s be as prepared as possible.

One thing we plumbers see often is that homeowners do not know how to turn water off to the home. If able, please purchase a “meter key”, the T-shaped wrench, to use to close the valve at your water meter. These are available at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and other hardware stores.

Follow this page, and this afternoon I will post a video on how to shut water off at the water meter.

Memphis electrical grid just had another little hiccup. When we have an electrical brown out, the compressor in your A/C system can actually begin to run backwards. That causes the compressor to overheat. Once it overheats, it will automatically shut itself down. Once the compressor cools off, it should automatically reset and begin cooling again. It could take up to an hour, but normally doesn’t take that long. Mine was out for maybe 20 minutes. Older systems can be fragile. Give it time. Call or text if you need me. 901-412-2690
