Sometimes, saving a home means letting part of it go. 👋

This beautiful waterfront home is being elevated to better protect it from future flooding—but there was one catch.

The original concrete-floor sunroom couldn’t make the trip.

Believe it or not, that’s exactly what’s supposed to happen!

Unlike the rest of the structure, the concrete slab sunroom couldn’t be lifted with the house. It had to be carefully demolished so the main structure could be elevated safely. Once the elevation is complete and the new foundation is finished, a brand-new floor system will be built in its place.

Projects like this are a great reminder that not every part of a home can be raised together. And not every house can be lifted the same way. Every house presents its own engineering challenges, and every successful elevation starts with a solid plan.

One step at a time… and this home is getting a whole new lease on life.

This home already had a great waterfront view of the Pamlico River, but elevating it is definitely going to make those views spectacular now! Not to mention greatly reducing its flood risk.

We've got another one up and out of the way of flood waters! Elite Structural Movers was able to lift it with the concrete slab front porch attached and intact. A huge plus in being able to preserve the character and original features.
