Mixing Metals Without the Chaos 101
Layered metals add depth and sophistication — when done with intention.
On a current project, our client has already selected beautiful cabinetry, wall color, and a quartz countertop. The foundation is strong. But when it came to hardware finishes, they were torn — brushed nickel, brushed brass, matte black… or a mix throughout?
We love receiving vision boards like this one, because this is where design strategy matters!
Our approach:
• Select a dominant metal to anchor the space
• Introduce one complementary accent for contrast
• Repeat finishes intentionally for cohesion
• Keep it to no more than three metals in one room
When thoughtfully layered, mixed metals feel curated and elevated — not chaotic or trendy.
If you’re stuck between brass, nickel, black (or all three), that’s exactly where we step in — to make sure every finish works together before anything is ordered.
