Come grab your favorite Chicken BBQ, sold by the Coal Festival at the Blossburg State Coal Festival! 🍗🔥

📍 Where: Island Park, Blossburg, PA — right in front of the Coal Museum 🏛️ (❌ don't show up to the Bloss Holiday Market looking for your coveted Sleezy Chicken, they only have their traditional meat this Saturday)

Pricing:
Dinner: $12 🍱

⚠️ 🛑 CRITICAL PIT RULE: NO PIT SALES! 🛑 We know this is a hard one to follow for the Coal Festival sale but - No, you cannot buy a chicken straight from the pit! ❌ Do not try to bribe the pitmasters with anything other than more beer. 🤫 You gotta be patient and wait until they are fully ready and served at the stand. Trust us, it’s worth the wait!

The next Chicken BBQ supports the Blossburg Memorial Library on Saturday, March 28, 2026 starting at 10:30 am. Lineup early because The Friends of the Library will be right next to them holding a delicious bake sale starting at 10 am. $12/dinner, $10/half. In front of the Bloss Holiday Market in downtown Blossburg, PA.

Everyone already knows how to make our great Chicken BBQ, Beans, and Salad - because they've checked out the recipes on the website and figured out the the # sign means lbs and not hashtag. But, do you know what you need for selling? Here's the list: https://blossburg.org/organizations/sleezy-construction-and-bbq-company/selling-chickens/

You made it onto our schedule? Awesome. Here’s what you need to have ready on the day of your sale. Remember to take care of any long lead-time items like getting To-Go Containers or ordering up ingredients for your sides ahead of time.

Chickens will arrive at approximately 10:15 am. People start lining up around 10 am on nice days.

After you are done selling, someone will need to take the coolers the chickens come in and the chicken gloves, clean them, then take them over to the small garage on the island per the Sleezy letter.

Also after done selling, go into the Holiday – pay the bills, get receipts.

You need approximately 4 or 5 people to help sell:
Cashier
Chicken Picker
Salad Server
Beans Server
Bagger/Runner

Supplies:
6 ft or 8 ft folding table
Signs advertising the organization
Signs with pricing
Tape for securing signs
Money Box
Change ($1s, $5s, $10s – you’ll end up with a lot of $20s because that is what the ATM spits out)
Roll of paper towels and general purpose cleaner for cleanup
2 serving spoons for the beans and salad
Disposable gloves
Plastic grocery bags to bag dinners
To Go containers

If your organization does not make their own sides, they can be ordered from the Bloss Holiday Market ahead of time. All organizations are expected to provide sides for dinners.

We're sooo glad the Bloss Holiday Market wrote out all of the details on the first Sleezy BBQ of the season so we didn't have to. Now we can focus and mentally prepare ourselves to bring you the best damn chicken we possible can in the morning.
