At the time of writing, we are 50 unique donors away from a 200 donor milestone to unlock $2k. Help us sent 75+ students to four NASA and rover challenges this year!

Thank you to all who have donated, let's push to hit our $25k goal!

It was a busy fall semester for SEDS, so let’s recap what happened! 🕵

We officially kicked off on September 25th, and it was out of this world 🚀🚀

nuLunabotics was officially accepted into the 2026 Lunabotics competition hosted in Florida later this year! They’re currently developing and prototyping their robot for the competition, and we wish them the best of luck! ☾

Astronomy won a grant from the National SEDS Organization for their radio telescope project, and hosted stargazing events 🔭

nuRover are officially past the first round of URC 2026, and are currently still going through the application process. They tabled at a multitude of STEM events throughout Boston, and focused on reaching out to the community 👯

NEST created a new prototype for their robotic snake, and are running a multitude of simulations with the project in a process known as reinforcement learning! 🐍

We are so excited to announce that RASC-AL officially submitted a notice of intent to compete for the 2026 season! They’ve spent the past couple of months getting off the ground and putting together an application, and we could not be prouder 🥹

SUITS also officially submitted their application for the 2026 season, and are awaiting more news. We wish them the best of luck! 👩‍🚀

All of this was done in just under 4 months, and we’re just getting started 😼Join our slack to find out more about projects you can join TODAY!

Happy ! Power SEDS and our projects as they gear up for competitions later this year! 🚀

Today, Northeastern is matching any alumni donations dollar for dollar (while funds last up to 25k across the university). Additionally, the top 3 student organizations with the most unique donors will receive an additional challenge funds, so every donation matters!

Congratulations to team SIRIUS for a great week at the NASA SUITS challenge! Test day two at the Johnson Space Center Rock Yard was a resounding success. The team demonstrated an augmented reality heads-up display for astronauts on the Artemis missions, and it has given them tons of inspiration for next year's challenge. They also had a blast working with from the University of Michigan!

March was an exciting month at Northeastern SEDS! We hosted multiple massive cross-SEDS events including a team game night and special guest speaker event with astronaut Jeffrey Hoffman! 🧑‍🚀Here’s a short synopsis of what the SEDS project teams have been up to:

Our Rover team is continuing progress ahead of the 2025 Mars Rover Challenge! Recently they submitted their System Acceptance Review 👏❗️On top of preparing for the challenge, they also participated in the annual Boston Public Schools STEM Fair where they showed students different arm teleoperation methods and explained the basics of robotics and mechanical design! 🦾

Our NASA SUITS team has been continuing preparation for the NASA’s 2025 SUITS Challenge at the Johnson Space Center in May. They have a full demo working in their new Quest 3s VR Headsets, and a few weeks ago they participated in the STEMOut event in Jamaica Plains where they talked to students from Boston Public Schools about space exploration and XR technology! 🚀

Our Lunabotics team has been working hard on their lunar robot ahead of the Iowa State University CosMiC Challenge in May. They recently completed their first working version of their robot and submitted their Proof of Life video for the competition- check it out on youtube! 🔥

Our Astronomy team hosted a fun stargazing event on March 15 at the Krentzman Quad for the Worm Moon in collaboration with multiple physics professors! 🔭 They also hosted a movie night where students watched 2001: A Space Odyssey 🎥🍿 Throughout the month, the Astronomy team continued to host fun weekly general meetings where students learned about interesting topics such as solar physics. Astronomy also participated with Rover at the BPS STEM Fair where they prepared a live camera distortion program displaying how gravitational waves warp the space time continuum!

We are looking forward to another exciting month here at SEDS! 🛰️💫
