When using your TDR soil sensor, make sure the entire length of the stainless-steel tines are fully covered by soil. Even partial air exposure, like shown in the bottom image will compromise your readings!

How deep is water moving through the soil profile and is moisture available at deeper depths for later in the season?

Monitoring your soil profile at multiple depths is one of the most valuable steps you can take to manage irrigation effectively. That's why we recommend installing at least two soil moisture sensors on L-Series units.

More data points mean better decisions. When it comes to understanding your soil profile, it's always better to have more information than not enough!
