There are rules, codes, and guidelines that builders must follow according to local municipalities the state and the nation.

Those codes are general and across-the-board and 99% of the time will be applicable.

For that one percent of the time, it may be very logical to go against these codes, rules, guidelines.

No matter how logical your reasoning is or how correct you may be, “doing what you want” is NOT THE RIGHT ANSWER!

COMMUNICATE to your local code enforcement. Set a meeting on site. Explain your dilemma. Be prepared with pros and cons. Intelligent conversation about building better is always good and may even end up in a code change in your favor!

Ultimately, code enforcement is great and what the industry needs, not joe shmoe throwing something together

Your trades may leave your job site clean but is it clean clean?🤷‍♂️

As the owner (or the one carrying the liability) perfection is the goal. There’s always something more to do.

I can sweep one more time, we could wash the windows again, we could re organize the materials on site for the third time.

Obsession is not good, discipline is. Set a standard for your company culture and its partners and stick to it.

Obsession can become an idol. Do what the job needs from you and move on. Don’t be obsessed, be disciplined 💪🏼
