Smithco had a busy two weeks attending three back-to-back events. 📅 On April 8–9 we participated in education sessions at the New Mexico Water Summit in Albuquerque. 💧📚 On April 11 we proudly sponsored and attended Rock the Runway in Las Cruces, a first‑annual fundraiser for Hearts for Autism that raised $100,000. ❤️🎟️💵 Then, April 14–16, we attended the New Mexico Rural Water Conference in Albuquerque, where we presented on backup generators.

As a participating vendor at this year’s event, we were genuinely impressed by the level of preparation, professionalism, and courage these students brought into the room.

“Mock It Till You Rock It” continues to be such a powerful bridge between education and the real workforce. Having the opportunity to sit across from students, hear their goals, and watch their confidence grow—even within a single interview—was incredibly rewarding. Many came in nervous, but with each round, you could see them finding their voice, refining their answers, and truly stepping into their potential.

What stood out most was their willingness to learn. They asked thoughtful questions, accepted feedback with openness, and showed a real desire to improve—not just for the event, but for their future careers.

Events like this matter. They don’t just prepare students for interviews—they empower them to believe they belong in professional spaces.

A huge thank you to the organizers, schools, and community partners who made this possible. We’re not just investing time—we’re investing in the next generation of leaders, and it shows.

More than 500 high school students showed up ready to interview, network, and land real job opportu...

In 2023, Smithco was awarded two segments of pipeline and the mechanical piping package for the Pojoaque Basin Regional Water System💧, to be constructed for the Bureau of Reclamation and the San Ildefonso and Pojoaque Pueblos near Santa Fe, New Mexico📍. The total dollar amount of these segments amounted to the largest construction contract Smithco had ever been awarded🏆.

The project consists of 110,000 linear feet of pipeline, numerous bores, and the mechanical piping in a large water treatment plant 🚧. As of now, we are approximately 50% complete with this project✅, and we can see the finish line👀, with pipe laying expected to be completed by August📅 and the mechanical piping completed by May🔧.

Smithco is serving as a subcontractor for CDM Smith Constructors out of Cucamonga, California🤝, and we went into this project knowing it would be extremely tough to build, as their requirements coupled with the BOR’s requirements increased the technical difficulty of the work📐.

Everyone at Smithco has contributed to this success👏. We want to thank each and every person for their contribution in helping bring success to this project and to this company🙌.
