Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 123,000 members of the Civil Engineering profession worldwide, and is America’s oldest national engineering society. ASCE’s vision is to position engineers as global leaders building a better quality of life. The Society celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002. ASCE at SIUC was chartered in 1986 by 5 students. We
are the umbrella organization under which the Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge design teams fall, however we offer far more opportunities than just the two design teams. We meet every other week in the Alumni Lounge of the Engineering Building on Tuesday evenings at six pm. We have multiple guest speakers each semester, as well as a multitude of service and social opportunities. If you are a student interested in joining, please e-mail one of the officers listed below.
