We had the perfect call to show off the use of the Hydrovac in a “soft excavation” scenario this morning. We were called out by the local power utility company to assist with a conduit extension in a tight area where live water lines and other utilities were present making the excavation near impossible with traditional means of excavation. We were able to open up roughly a 3’x4’x5’ area of hard clay to allow for the conduit extension to the new pole.

Went out and helped our friends over at Genesis Earthworks with some potholing and exploratory digging to locate some underground fiber and electric lines that were in the way of a new driveway construction project.

Day or night we’re ready for the call.

Emergency call came in around 6pm yesterday from a residential customer with an apparent water line leak and the customer knew the water line was ran in conjunction with the main electrical line(black line you see running over top of the water)feeding the house so it was the perfect setup to use the hydrovac. Grabbed all the gear and was on site by 7:50pm, Once on site we got the vac set in place and went to work, By 8:40pm the 3’x2’x2.5’ deep hole was opened up, water line was fixed and back in operation and we were packing up the truck to head back to home base. Quick response and precision work is the name of the game around here.

Today marks a milestone for Precision Driven Hydrovac, we were able to complete the first job with the new hydro vac setup. Customer called us out to try and locate a basement sump pump line. We excavated a 16”x40” trench that was just shy of 8’ deep trying to locate the line. The customer elected to pause there and bring in a mini excavator to bench the area down to make it safe for further work to be done. Not all jobs are wins but we will take this learning experience and move forward to the next project.
