The McCartney Road project in Casa Grande was designed to deliver essential roadway improvements while navigating complex funding, utility, and phasing challenges. The project was divided into three design segments to facilitate planning and potential phased construction. Ellison-Mills, serving as CMAR, provided extensive value engineering and cost estimation to help the City determine the highest-priority segment for immediate construction.

The team proactively addressed critical intersection and utility conflicts, including early constructability analysis for the McCartney-Trekell culvert, detailed coordination with APS and utility contractors, and NAASCO-certified CCTV sewer and storm drain assessments. These efforts ensured that the selected roadway segment could be built efficiently, without delays to other major corridor improvements.

Through collaborative problem-solving and strategic planning, the project established a clear path for phased construction and long-term infrastructure upgrades in the Casa Grande community.

Our annual R&R Retreat is one of our favorite weekends of the year, a chance to slow down, recognize the people behind the work, and celebrate what we’ve built together.

This year, we traded Southern Arizona for a weekend in Flagstaff, giving our team and their families time to reconnect and enjoy some well-deserved time together. Between awards, raffles, and a 50/50 fundraiser for the EMC Scholarship Foundation, there was plenty to celebrate.

A highlight was presenting Jerry Rubbo with the Safety Award, recognizing his commitment to looking out for our crews and making sure everyone gets home safely each day. Safety is at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to recognize those who lead by example.

Congratulations to all of this year’s award recipients, and thank you to the entire EMC team and their families for everything you do. We’re grateful for the people who make EMC what it is, and the families who support them along the way.

We had a great time at this year's American Public Works Association Conference connecting with public works professionals from across Arizona. From educational sessions and conversations with peers to award ceremonies, the event was a great opportunity to stay connected to the work and ideas shaping our industry.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, played a round of mini co****le, and took the time to chat with our team. Between the networking and a few friendly puppy visits, it was a weekend well spent!

We're looking for an experienced Pipe Superintendent to help lead our underground utility crews in Casa Grande.

This role is for someone who knows heavy civil construction inside and out, from water, sewer, storm drain, and force main installation to trench safety, utility layout, and reading plans. Just as important, we're looking for a leader who can keep crews motivated, solve problems in the field, coordinate with owners and inspectors, and deliver quality work safely and on schedule.

We’ve added a new member to the Ellison-Mills team… and they have pink feathers!

To kick off our upcoming infrastructure project at the Reid Park Zoo, EMC officially adopted a flamingo! We’re thrilled to partner with such a beloved Tucson staple to help enhance and support their grounds for visitors and wildlife alike.

To keep the excitement going, we’re raffling off a 1-Year Reid Park Zoo Family Membership and a plushie flamingo at our upcoming R&R Retreat! We can’t wait to get to work on-site; stay tuned for project updates!

The first half of the year has kept our crews busy across Southern Arizona.

From laying the groundwork for new industrial development at KPPC Advanced Chemicals Inc. to paving major roadways, improving access throughout the Pinal County Airpark, and rehabilitating critical sewer infrastructure, every project has played a role in strengthening and growing our communities. Whether it's supporting economic growth, improving transportation, or investing in essential public infrastructure, we're proud of the impact these projects will have for years to come.
