SparkGrounds

SparkGrounds Welcome to SPARKGROUNDS — a place where hands-on learning sparks creativity, exploration, and confidence in Pre-K through 12th grade students.

Through all of our programs, we invite young minds to discover, build, and dream boldly. SPARKGROUNDS is run by experienced company owners, who are also parents, dedicated to helping children become confident explorers who follow their dreams. We believe in innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. Children should know that having an experiment not work the first time is the way to learn. And they should have fun working!

While our robotics camp kicks off next week (with a few spots still remaining), we wanted to highlight two exciting June programs and remind you that registration for our Fall 2026 classes is now open.

Pixels, Prints & Motion: Art, Design & 3D Printing Intensive: June 15–19

This week-long camp combines filmmaking, stop-motion animation, digital art, set design, and 3D printing into one creative experience. Students write stories, design characters and props, build sets, learn photography and filming techniques, and edit their own animated short films. Along the way, they’ll explore the tools and creative processes used by artists, designers, and filmmakers.

Glow Systems & Light Photography Workshop: Saturday, June 27

In this 1.5 hour, hands-on workshop, students experiment with light as an artistic medium. Using programmable LEDs, glow systems, cameras, and long-exposure photography techniques, participants create colorful light paintings and dramatic photographic effects while learning the science and art behind the images.

Both programs are designed the SPARKGROUNDS way: real tools, meaningful projects, hands-on exploration, and plenty of opportunities for creativity, experimentation, and problem-solving.

Fall 2026 Registration Is Also Open

This fall, we’re offering a wide variety of classes, workshops, and teams, including a Competitive Robotics Team, Robotics Workshop, 3D Printing Workshop, Makerspace Inventors Workshop, gaming clubs, and hands-on science and chemistry classes. With opportunities available for students from age three through 12th grade, there is something for nearly every young creator, builder, inventor, artist, and problem-solver. All classes, workshops, and events take place at either the Island Village Clubhouse or Celebration’s Town Hall.

Registration is available through SparkGrounds.com or through the Step Up EMA Marketplace.

We hope to see your family this summer and fall!

Build robots. Test strategies. Compete. Redesign. Battle.

Bots, Brains & Battle: Combat & Competitive Robotics begins in just over a week—and limited spots remain!

Students spend the week engineering and competing with VEX robots while also exploring one-pound combat robotics in a safe, structured environment inspired by real robot combat competitions.

Throughout the camp, students design drivetrains and attachments, test ideas in head-to-head challenges, iterate and improve their robots, experiment with strategy and teamwork, and learn how engineering decisions affect real-world performance. Students also explore electronics, robot maintenance, troubleshooting, and the design process behind combat robotics systems.

This is not a lecture-based STEM camp. Students spend the week actively building, competing, solving problems, and improving their designs alongside peers with different experience levels and ideas.

Lunch, snacks, guest speakers, and all materials included.

Registration is available at SparkGrounds.com and through the Step Up EMA Marketplace.

A lot of families have asked about the difference between our Makerspace Inventors Workshop and our Open Makerspace Club—especially since they run on alternating Wednesdays and are designed to work together.

The short version:

Makerspace Inventors Workshop is a guided, challenge-based class. Open Makerspace Club is a true open build studio.

In Makerspace Inventors Workshop, students are introduced to different engineering, design, and invention concepts throughout the semester—structures, circuits, motion systems, integrated builds, and more. Each session includes new prompts, constraints, materials, and learning opportunities designed to actively push students’ thinking and problem-solving skills forward. Students still create original projects, but the experience is intentionally facilitated and structured around specific ideas and challenges.

Open Makerspace Club is different. That class is built around freedom, time, and exploration. Students decide what to make, how to make it, and how far to take it. Some students work on cardboard engineering projects. Others use electronics, 3D printing, art materials, or mechanical systems. Some arrive with a detailed plan; others discover their project once they begin. Facilitators guide, troubleshoot, teach skills when needed, and help students move ideas forward—but there is no set lesson or common build.

The two classes are intentionally designed to complement each other.

Some students take only one. Others “stack” them together for a full every-week makerspace experience:

Week A → Makerspace Inventors Workshop
Week B → Open Makerspace Club

That combination works incredibly well because students get both sides of the experience: structured engineering and invention challenges alongside completely open creative build time.

Both classes are designed for new and returning students, which means students don’t repeat projects—they grow into more advanced tools, stronger problem-solving, better designs, and increasingly complex builds over time.

Honestly, both are some of the most “SPARKGROUNDS” classes we offer.
