Friendly neighbor heads-up: we’re seeing a lot of AC calls right now across Concord and Mooresville.

If your system is running but not cooling, check your filter first.

It’s one of the most common culprits, and it’s the easiest thing to rule out before calling anyone.

If the filter is packed with dust, your system has to work harder to move air through the house — and in this heat, that can turn into a bigger problem fast.

Changed the filter and it’s still struggling? That’s when it’s worth having someone take a look.

Hosting soon? Cookout planned? Backyard lights going up?

Here’s your quick electrical checklist before guests arrive:

1. Make sure outdoor outlets are GFCI-protected.
2. Don’t use extension cords like permanent wiring.
3. If a breaker keeps tripping, don’t keep forcing it back on.
4. Check string lights and outdoor plugs before the party starts.
5. If outlets feel loose or plugs fall out, have them looked at.

And please — do not let one outlet power the grill area, speaker, fan, string lights, phone chargers, and whatever your brother-in-law brought from his garage.

Small electrical issues are a lot easier to fix before everyone’s standing in the backyard wondering why the power went out.
