Hello Facebook world haven't reached out to anybody for a long time haven't even been on Facebook for a long time but today is not about me or about any of you today is my father's birthday he would have been 71 today and I am asking everybody who knew him to give a second and remember something good about him a moment a kind word he said a fun day a party or anything that pops in your mind to remind you about a man that I love with all my heart Richard Edmund Van Abel some people knew him his dick man able some of you knew him as Rich being able but for the ones that were close in his life towards the later years of it knew him as POPS.... My dad may have been a many of things but anybody who knew him knew beyond all of his bad there was a man who would give his shirt off his back to help anybody out. A lot could be said about my father in a negative manner but those who knew him the best knew what kind of man he was and what he dedicated to me and my brother after our mother died when we were young. What kind of man he was at work, what kind of soldier he was during the Vietnam era, what kind of person he was to those in need or those who just needed a shoulder to cry on or ears to listen. And if he was here today he wouldn't want anybody to feel bad or hurt in any way because he's gone he would want everybody to pop open a beer and throw it up in the air and do a toast to one of the best human being I've ever had the pleasure of knowing we all know that me and my father had a lot of ups and downs but a lot of you don't know the sacrifices he made to make all of those ups and downs always come out with a positive outcome. My father had a way of bringing out the best in people around him and sometimes the worst but even though when the worst happened he always would do whatever it took to make it turn out in a positive manner. So anybody who has the ability to drink a beer let's all throw a toast tonight at 7:00 to a man that had an impact and everybody's life he ever met a man who would do anything to help somebody in a time of need a man that even though he didn't have to raise his boys the best way he knew how a man that lived his life with a lot of pain but always put on a smile for others who had pain in their life too and always try to make everybody around him feel better even when he had troubles coming to terms with the pain that caused conflict in his life. So I ask everybody whether you drink a beer or not throw a glass in the air tonight at 7:00 and give a small moment to remember a man that loved life and everybody in his life. I know I wasn't always the best son or friend to my father but I always loved him no matter what the situation and he always loved me and my brother and his family and friends. Thanks everybody for reading my long post I just wanted to remind everybody that my father Richard Van Abel was here and no matter what anybody thinks did the best he could with what he had and made the best out of everything he didn't and I want to remind everybody the impact he had on their lives and the lives of those around them..... And I want to send a shout out to a man that help me more than anybody in my life through tough times and who I wish was still here with all of my heart to help me with the problems I'm going through now but I make it through everyday knowing he is looking down proud of the man I've become proud of the man my brothers become proud of the family he had and the friends he shared his life with we will all miss you Dad.. but we all wish you a happy birthday and we all wish you rest in peace we miss you and love you and wish you were here...
