Congratulations to Holtec International on the purchase of their first Fl**ge Assembly Demonstration Unit (FADU™) supporting their Palisades Nuclear Plant Restart Project! Palisades is an 800-megawatt facility, shut down in May 2022 with plans for decommissioning, but is now being prepared for a new life by Holtec to provide clean, reliable baseload electric power to Michigan residents for years into the future!

As a recognized world leader for effective industrial fluid sealing and plant leakage reduction programs, JJENCO is proud to be selected to contribute to their success!

What Do We Mean By Zero Leaks?

My name is John Jenco and I have been conducting applied research on fluid sealing and plant leakage reduction for industrial pressure-boundary piping systems for decades. My work forms the technical basis for plant fluid sealing operating procedures, engineering specifications, and maintenance training programs used by the global Commercial Nuclear Power Industry, as well as others in Refining, Chemical & Petrochemical, Power Generation and similar industries.

What makes ZeroLeaks™ training programs different from the rest? Simply, our training is just that, training. Our objective is to convey information in a manner that causes subsequent work practices to change, and change for the better! Unlike nearly all similar industrial training, our focus is not to educate participants by providing an increased understanding of the topic area. A more educated workforce is useless if it does not result in more practical and effective work practices. And increased knowledge does not necessary correspond to how it will be actually applied in the field. So, ZeroLeaks focuses on the training objective with the hope that some level of education will also take place.

INTRODUCING THE NEXT-GENERATION FL**GE ASSEMBLY DEMONSTRATION UNIT FROM JJENCO...THE FADU-X!!

New for 2024 is our next-generation FADU-X model, the 'X' stands for eXtended.

The FADU-X can be ordered in either our lightweight, all-aluminum or standard heavy-duty steel and wood configuration. As with our previous models, the FADU-X comes standard with all the same sensors and latest software version that have made the JJENCO FADU™ the premier and de facto standard bolted fl**ge joint assembly training platform in the world for 15 years.

But what sets the FADU-X apart and makes it a potential game-changer for industrial mechanical training is that we have separated the electronics package from the hardware package among other improvements!

• 50% greater data acquisition capability

• Capable of supporting new future training or research hardware packages beyond just bolted fl**ge joints

• Improved maintainability and ease of maintenance (if required)

• Allows greater distance between the computer and FADU

The FADU-X electronics package (shown without cover below) comes housed in a fully enclosed aluminum box that fits nicely within either our FADU-L or FADU-HD model units. A separate 3m cable, dedicated to the particular hardware package type used, plugs into the front of the electronics package. New screens supporting different hardware packages can be added to our existing FADU User Interface Software or can be generated as a standalone application for a particular hardware package. That means changing hardware packages for different mechanical training requirements will be as easy as just changing the control cable.

What does it mean to wish "a Happy New Year"?

First, it means letting go of the past. Recognize the previous year's achievements as well as its failures. Accept the lessons learned, but leave resting on any laurels of success and recriminations of past mistakes in the past.

Look forward with anticipation to all the new opportunities that are certain to arise throughout the new year and accept that some will come with new challenges not seen before. Remind yourself to view new challenges as new achievements in the making and not as roadblocks to success.

Understand that happiness is a state of mind and not a state of matter. It is not something you encounter in life, it is something you create in yourself. As the old SEAL Team mantra goes, "It's just mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter." Translation: Accept your circumstances and be gentle with yourself.

Finally, be BOLD in your undertakings in the new year! Strive to lead where you can and follow well where you must. Finish each opportunity to the best of your ability. Make going above and beyond your norm. One of the first and most important lessons SEAL candidates learn during BUD/S selection assessment is the simple phrase repeated frequently by the Instructor cadre, . Make that your own mantra in every situation as you create your own happiness in the coming year.
