I laid awake last night thinking about the certainty, severity, then the preparation for the storm we're expecting. Then I thought of the temporal nature of it, it won't last long.
Then it hit me of a coming judgement which is certain Hebrew 9:27, Romans 14:1; which is severe 2 Thessalonians 1:9; which can be prepared for Isaiah 55:1, John 7:37-39. Fortunately, all can prepare for this day. You don't need a generator, alternative heat source, or any other costly preparation, the price has already been paid by another Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. If you find yourself anxious abought the coming storm, get out your bible, and read Genesis 3, Romans 1& 2, John 3&4. I pray you all stay safe through the ice storm, but more importantly, you find refuge in the rock Romans 9:33. Fall on the rock, don't let it fall on you.

I'm afraid some may not read my previous post close enough; don't run your heat pump with the air blocked, this will make it freeze up for sure. A better choice for those blessed with a working gas fireplace would be to use it, and shut off the heat pump.
This is really only a big concern when there is freezing rain actually falling.

Please be warned, a frozen up heat pump in the kind of weather being forecast can be very problematic. When freezing rain falls on the grill above the fan blade, the discharge air will just blow it off; that's if it's running. The problem is, if the freezing rain falls during an off cycle, it can cover it with ice, completely blocking the discharge air when it comes back into a heating cycle. If you want to stay up all night, you can keep an eye on it, and just lightly tap on the grill to break up any ice before it gets too heavy, but who wants to do that. Another alternative is to turn the heat pump off, and turn on the emergency heat. You can then cover the top of the unit with a trash can lid and concrete block on top, or some other way to keep the ice off until the rain stops. Please !!! be sure to remove it before turning the heat pump back on.
The problem is much more than just an iced up grill. If the heat pump runs with restricted air flow (ice covering the top), the coil will turn into a block of ice, and with the lows temps expected Mon/Tu it will not defrost on its own. You may be several days with out heat if you let this happen.

Looking to replace your old A/C or Heat pump this year? You better act soon if you want to beat the new EPA mandate. Manufacturers will no longer be permitted to manufacture equipment with 410a refrigerant. They must use new A2L (flammable) refrigerants. With this change comes a price increase, as well as a learning curve for installers, and technicians; not to mention all the unknowns associated something new. In addition to a price increase on the equipment, installers will have to invest in a fair amount of retooling which will no doubt be passed on to the end user.

Free advice about your water heater.

I'm not a plumber, but find the need to help family from time to time, so I've learned a few things.
Replaced your water heater lately? You might want to check the cause of the failure before you have to replace it again. Check your pressure regulator, and your expansion tank. I've seen both cause premature failures, especially the expansion tank. Not sure what I'm talking about, google it, there are many articles and videos.
FYI, Rheem gas water heaters have had some issues with the gas valve, so if your having problems with a newer one, go to their webb site; you may get both parts & labor paid for.
