Travel plans to the Middle East just hit a major roadblock. Air Canada has officially suspended all flight operations to Dubai until 2027. The airline previously planned to restart the route this October but reversed the decision due to regional instability. Flights to Tel Aviv are also grounded until next year as insurance costs for international carriers skyrocket. While local airlines like Emirates continue to fly, Air Canada joins Virgin Atlantic in a long term withdrawal from the region. The airline is offering a flexible booking policy so affected passengers can rebook later without extra fees. Service is currently not expected to resume at DXB until mid-January of 2027. Quebec is tightening heavy-truck safety rules after a recent rise in crashes involving inexperienced drivers. The province will now require some new Ontario Class 1 truck drivers to pass practical exams in Quebec, and drivers with less than 24 months of Class 1 experience who fail twice will have to complete mandatory training.

The new temporary measure applies to Ontarians seeking to drive heavy vehicles in Quebec, reflecting concerns about training and licensing oversight. Quebec is also creating a working group to develop a plan for temporary foreign workers who operate heavy vehicles.

End of an era 🎸 After more than 60 years of filling Montreal with music, the iconic Steve’s Music Store has announced it is closing its final downtown location on Sainte-Catherine Street.

From a single shop opened by Steve Kirman in 1965 to a legendary staple for local musicians, Steve’s has been the starting point for countless creative journeys. The family cited the changing economy and post-COVID retail challenges for the tough decision to restructure and close their final storefront.
