This week, Joshua Longbrake and Matt Jacknow from Jacknow Construction had the privilege of speaking at our local school’s career day. They shared with students what inspired them to pursue careers in the trades, as well as the challenges and rewards that come with their work.

It was a wonderful opportunity to highlight their passion for building and creating beautiful spaces that bring joy to so many.

We have heard about some scams in the area and want to make sure our neighbors know the facts about how to make sure it is a legitimate company or a scam.

Here are some helpful tips to make sure you are not being scammed when approached by a construction solicitor.

1.) Ask for a detailed estimate in writing before committing to a project.
2.) Ask for proof of insurance.
3.) Agree upon a price before they begin work and make sure all change orders are agreed and signed by both parties.
4.) Question the company if they say “they have extra material” from a job down the street.
5.) Some villages do not allow professional construction projects to be done on Sundays.

Today our owner’s kid’s school is having “Occupation Day” and asked the kids to dress up like the occupation they want to be when they grow up. Needless to say, Jacknow Construction looks like it has a bright future with these two rising carpenters! 🛠️🪚🪛🧰
