Rob Shogren and Jay Saldana know what it takes to build a better data center. Between them, they've helped deliver industry firsts, like an award-winning AI-optimized concrete mix with Meta. πŸ†

πŸ“They're just back from hosting a seminar at the Advancing Data Center Construction conference in Dallas, where industry leaders gathered to talk about building the next generation of data centers faster, smarter, and greener.

The cloud is not as invisible as it sounds. Every search, stream, upload, and AI tool depends on physical infrastructure, and more of it is being built across Texas. That growth comes with real challenges β€” power, permits, heat generation, and more β€” but it also comes with opportunities.

For Amrize, meeting both means thinking from foundation to rooftop β€” and being there for more than just the materials. As one conference attendee told us, it's the hands-on know-how behind the concrete, roofing, and insulation systems that helps keep big, complex builds on track.

Digital life may feel instant. Building the infrastructure behind it is anything but. πŸͺ

πŸ™οΈ At the corner of Parliament and Gerrard in Toronto, a new home has taken shape β€” built with the future in mind.

Daniels on Parliament is a two-tower residential development bringing new housing and shared community spaces to Toronto's Downtown East. But it's also getting in front of where the city's building rules are headed: low-carbon concrete is on track to go from a nice-to-have to a requirement, and this project didn't wait to make the switch.

Amrize, through its subsidiary Innocon, helped The Daniels Corporation make that possible with ECOtect low-carbon concrete and TEMPtect all-season concrete β€” built to perform through Toronto's winters and keep the project on schedule.

More than 22,000 mΒ³ of concrete later, Daniels on Parliament is home to a growing community β€” built to last, and built a little greener.

🏠 In Florida, keeping a home cool is not a small job.

Now imagine doing that in a 7,889-square-foot showcase home with floor-to-ceiling glass, intense sun, high humidity, and a goal of producing more energy than it uses.

That was the challenge behind The New American Home 2026 in Winter Park.

Built by Alair Homes Orlando, the home finished with a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index score below -40, making it one of the most energy-efficient homes in the program’s history.

Amrize Building Envelope brands helped make that possible, with Enverge spray foam insulation sealing the walls and roof deck, and Elevate roof materials helping manage heat, drainage, and durability overhead.

It is a good reminder that energy efficiency is not just about what you can see. Sometimes, the smartest parts of a home are hidden in the walls and roof.

πŸ›οΈ Ever wondered what it's like to design a building that becomes part of a city's skyline forever?

Meet Scott Duncan and Ryan Culligan of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) β€” the architecture firm behind One World Trade Center, the John Hancock Center, and airport terminals millions of us pass through every year.

As America marks its 250th, we asked them what it's like to design the buildings that end up defining how a place is remembered.

Their answer, 90 years into SOM's history? Never stop experimenting. Some of their best ideas, Ryan says, start out "right on the edge of failure."

🧳Planning a summer trip? Here are two of our favorite spots β€” maybe because we helped protect them. πŸ˜‰

One is Mackinac Island's historic Island House Hotel β€” guests arrive by ferry, horse-drawn carriages still line the streets, and the vibe dates back to 1852.

The other is The Hoover Dam Visitor Center, where millions of people stop each year to take in one of America's greatest engineering landmarks.

Different trips, same hidden detail: both places rely on building envelope work that protects the destinations people save their summers to see.

Our latest story looks at how Malarkey Roofing Products shingles helped preserve the Island House Hotel's historic charm, and how Gaco coatings help keep the Hoover Dam's observation deck safe under all that desert sun. β˜€οΈ

πŸ“š One million people visited Calgary Central Library in its first seven months. In a city of one million people!

That says a lot about what this building has become for Calgary.

What's wild is the land almost didn't get a chance β€” a live CTrain line ran straight across the site, and a lot of people figured that made it unbuildable.

Our precast and ready-mix teams helped prove them wrong, working on the project from the earliest design stages to bring the site to life β€” from the encapsulation of the track, to the textured panels at the entrance, to the benches and planters outside.

From unbuildable to unmissable. That’s this library’s story. πŸš‡βž‘οΈπŸ“š

πŸͺΆ Small but mighty.

American Kestrels are the smallest raptors in North America β€” usually only about nine inches long β€” but they're incredible birds. They can hover in place while scanning for prey, see ultraviolet light, and dive at speeds of up to 60 mph.

Each year, our teams join local experts and community partners in Tomahawk, Alberta, to help band American Kestrels and support research into their migration, habitat, and protection.

This year's event brought together colleagues from our Northern Alberta Environment, Land, Aggregates Operations, and Sales teams, along with Chuck Priestly from STRIX Ecological Consulting.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a meaningful learning and conservation experience. πŸͺΆ

🏞️ Did you know New York State has just one cement plant left β€” and it's right here in Ravena?

Our leadership team was there this past week and got quite the view from the top!

Since 1962, our Ravena team has been helping build landmarks like One World Trade Center and MetLife Stadium, and maintaining the roads, rails, and infrastructure that keep the Northeast moving β€” from New York City all the way to Boston.

Right now, Ravena's 194 team members are also helping host a three-day celebration for America's 250th birthday, alongside the Village of Ravena and the Town of Coeymans. πŸŽ‰

Thank you to David Romero Garcia and the Ravena team for the warm welcome and the tour!

🀠 300 people, one alpaca, and a whole lot of burgers. Calgary does Stampede season right.

Across the city, cowboy hats come out, parties pop up, and neighbours, colleagues, and friends find a reason to get together.

Our Calgary team joined in with a Stampede BBQβ€” complete with food, music, games, and plenty of time to connect.

And that alpaca? That's Alan. Safe to say he was the most photographed guest of the morning. πŸ¦™

It was a great way to celebrate the season and the community spirit that makes Calgary feel like Calgary.

Happy Stampede. Yahoo! 🐎
