A bird's eye view of where things stand on one of our larger current projects here in Southwest Virginia.

What you're looking at is a custom home with a substantial covered outdoor living porch system, and a lot of ground yet to be finished.

For those who are new here — let us introduce ourselves properly.

We're Setter Construction. A custom homebuilding company rooted right here in Southwest Virginia, in the New River Valley — and we've been doing this since 2017.

But this isn't just a business to us. It never has been.

When we started, we had a simple but stubborn belief: that building someone a home should feel personal. That the people trusting you with one of the biggest investments of their lives deserve honesty, real craftsmanship, and someone who actually cares.

Our team at Setter Construction genuinely cares about hearing your voice through every step of the build. We are dedicated to a hands-on approach, using our in-house carpentry expertise to bring your vision to life.

We've been recognized with the NRV Excellence in Building Award — in 2020, 2024, and 2025.. But what means more to us is the families we've built for. The kitchens people gather in. The porches people watch sunsets from. The spaces that become theirs.

And beyond the builds, we're passionate about something bigger. The next generation of skilled builders is shrinking, and we're doing something about it. From helping middle schoolers build park benches to walking students through real job sites, we show up for this community because this community is who shows up for us.

Bigger lifts, better builds.

We’re officially flying our truss assemblies. By shifting the heavy assembly to the ground, we’re able to work faster and more accurately. It’s a proud moment for the Setter team as we continue to find better ways to build custom homes for our neighbors in Southwest Virginia.
