Another day, another chassis, another happy customer. This customer brought me a gallon of matte black Eastwood Rust Encapsulator that he wanted me to spray after the blasting and cleaning. I don’t ever leave a speck of rust so there’s nothing to encapsulate, but ok. I’ve never sprayed this product before today but I have to say it sprays beautifully, lays down nice and flat, and covers very well. Only took half a gallon for a tack coat and two wet coats. It doesn’t have any UV protection so it would need a topcoat if it was going to see direct sunlight but most chassis don’t so it’ll be good. Time will tell how matte it actually is. Looks pretty satin gloss to me but we will see in the morning if it dries and cures with a flatter matte finish.

Every time a customer asks for a blast, prime, paint job “but it won’t need any body work” I have a good laugh and then call my friends that also restore cars and tell them I got another one and they also have a good laugh. The blaster ALWAYS reveals the truth and most of the time it’s ugly. Fortunately for my customers, I know my way around metal work as well and I can usually get the rot cut out and weld in nice fresh metal. Sometimes they bring me panels, sometimes I have to reconstruct everything from scratch. Stay tuned for the grand reveal of this M151 and matching trailer. Almost done!
