Great news out of Munroe Falls!

Last night, Council unanimously adopted a resolution in support of HB303, a bill that creates a Community Energy pilot program in Ohio and unlocks the potential for residents to benefit directly from small-scale energy generation near where they live. This will be an important tool to have in the mix to combat rising energy costs.

Thank you to Cleveland Owns Cleveland Solar Co-op, and Solar United Neighbors for reaching out to us and sending representatives to answer Council’s questions. I’m thankful to have a long-time champion of good energy policy, Senator Casey Weinstein, as our own State Senate representative, and I hope he and his colleagues on the Senate Energy Committee will take this recommendation to heart!

I didn't know this before I got into solar, but in Ohio you can pick WHO you get your energy from. It's called a supply rate.

Most people don't do this, and end up overpaying for energy.

I actually had a customer who sent me an electric bill recently, and they were overpaying by *$62* for their supply rate.

Every couple months, it's a good idea to make sure you aren't overpaying for your supply rate.

If you've never done that before--don't worry! I made a quick guide on how to switch suppliers, shop for better rates and start saving money.

It's free and takes like 5 minutes to do it. Hope this video helps.

"Increased power demand from data centers has exacerbated statewide utility problems that were already there: not enough electricity options for consumers, a lack of government oversight and relentless rate increases."

Brian the Ohio Solar Guy is turning 1 today!

I’ve had SO MUCH fun putting this labor of love together.

So far, I’ve made:

-29 short form videos
-4 long form videos
-6 questionable skits
-19 pieces of content

On just this page alone, that’s lead to:

- 191 followers
- 12,000 views
- 2,100 interactions
- 7 people who have reached out for quotes
- 4,000 solar objections conquered in the YL comments section

Content creation was not a path I ever thought I would be on. But it’s been a really fulfilling challenge to learn how to write, film and produce it.

More importantly, I appreciate all the love this has gotten. It’s made me realize that I have a lot of people in my corner. And that there are a lot of people out there who are also rooting for a better electric grid for all of us.

And that that’s something worth fighting for.

Here’s to year 2.

I had a wonderful time presenting on our winning solar projects for the Cleveland 2030 District's 2025 Green Building Challenge this morning.

It was an honor to tell the story of how two local organizations are embracing energy leadership. And it's been a pleasure to get to know all the individuals involved as we prepared for this award.

I'd like to thank YellowLite for this opportunity and the folks from the Village Of Chagrin Falls and the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities for helping to make our presentation great.
