POWERNODE ⚡️🌑

When I first paired my system with the Powernode, it was a huge leap forward.

I found that it made my speakers sound even better—adding punch and clarity.

It also brought all the benefits of hi-res streaming into the mix, the ability to log in streaming services, and expandability to additional Bluesound rooms.

It offers 3 channels of 100 Watts (the third channel for a center speaker in home theater setups), a subwoofer output, and two aux inputs—one of which I use for the turntable.

It has a touch interface right on top with volume control and presets, so getting out a phone to control it is secondary.

Its compact size eliminates the clutter of a HiFi receiver, so that the system can retain its symmetrical appearance.

It has built-in EQ for fine-tuning, and plenty of headroom to rattle the windows.

I’m especially excited about this partnership though, because when I finally launch the , will be among the supported platforms, and these systems will be complete with a wall controller that provides an analog experience of control—the one thing that’s missing with all the improvements in modern listening.

Allow me to re-introduce myself—Joseph Hazelwood. I’m a commercial AV installer by trade but I inject my creative impulses into everything I do. I’m an uncommon mix of technologist and designer—left brain and right brain.

Over 14 years of Hazelwood Labs, I have established myself as a tech hardware designer through countless custom install projects that balance function and aesthetics—each in unique ways, but always highlighting my passion for quality materials, attention to detail, and timeless design principles.

Every piece of hardware has been geared toward drawing the user/audience into the present moment—sparking a sense of intrigue, providing satisfying functionality, and challenging modern assumptions about technology.

These install sculptures can now be found in establishments and homes all over Nashville and extend from Indianapolis, to Knoxville, to Atlanta, to Charleston.

This year, I’m making a major pivot. Although I’m still engaged in multiple install projects, I’m moving toward concentrating my focus on a single product—the . It’s the culmination of these many years of grinding out products—learning, and refining my craft.

Delivered ❕

Thanks John for your support and hanging with me while I worked through the process of rolling out this new design v2.

I’m thrilled with the outcome—the sound, the proportions, the combination of finishes.

The 3D-milled parts, especially the big speaker bezel and legs, turned out amazing. Learning to draw in 3D has been a goal of mine, and pushing through the challenge was worth it.

Now, I’ve designed most of the new in Fusion, and it feels like I’ve entered a new era of HazeLabs design. ⚡️⚡️👤

Being able to imagine, design, and order custom parts is incredible. It’s one of the coolest things about living in this era—the democratization of manufacturing. Shout out to who milled the metals⚡️🙏🏻

These systems are pricey and exclusive, but if you’re obsessed with having something unique, I’m proud to offer custom builds. The process is refined, and I can deliver a system like this in around 60 days. HMU!

Model 2112-II ⚡️🚨 Our most obsessed-over full system to date.

It features teak veneer with thick milled aluminum plates, copper plated tonearm, platter, and speaker grilles, and anodized red hardware.

The turntable is a customized CS429–featuring fully automatic function and an 2M Red cartridge [matches 😎]. I have reconfigured the interface panel to include a tactile k**b and buttons.

The speakers are a HazeLabs-original design featuring 6.5in coaxial HiFi drivers, a hand-wired crossover, and passive radiator for extended bass. The chunky octagon bezel and feet were designed in 3D by your’s truly and milled by .

The feet are a functional part of the design. They are completely isolated from the cabinets to mitigate feedback.

I’m super proud of how this system turned out and am ready to accept commissions! I can make it as a Full System [paired with a Powernode amp, Streaming System [speakers and amp only], Speakers only, or Turntable only.

I want to clarify something for new folks who’ve found their way here—especially after the Tennessee Crossroads episode.

Hazelwood Labs is not a vintage repair shop.
We do a small amount of vintage retrofitting and restoration, but that isn’t the core of what we do.

Hazelwood Labs is a development studio focused on new, reimagined technology.

The Lab is full of antiques because I’m deeply inspired by old technology—by its tactility, restraint, and clarity of purpose. Those older machines understood something we’ve mostly lost: technology should serve the human, not demand attention, updates, logins, or constant interaction.

My work is about re-imagining the future of technology by carrying forward the forgotten benefits of analog experience and blending them with modern tools. The goal is devices that are calmer, more intentional, and genuinely useful—especially in how we experience sound and music.

I suspect we’ll eventually look back on the early decades of the 21st century as an awkward, screen-obsessed era—one where we were encumbered by our tools instead of supported by them.

Come in and warm up ⚡️🔥

Vinyl has a warmth and immediacy that digital can’t replicate. No, it isn’t perfect—and that’s the point. The crackles and pops are part of the experience. There’s something cold about perfection, and there’s always a trade-off for convenience.

Playing a record is a ritual. Pulling it from the sleeve. Dropping the needle. Reading the liner notes. Slowing down long enough to actually listen. It asks something of you that pressing play on a phone never will.

There’s room for both worlds—but this experience doesn’t exist without a proper turntable.
