CASAsim CASA, Columbia Aeronautics and Space Association, is a truly unique program. Students gather for one full week in February to simulate what NASA does

CASA, Columbia Aeronautics and Space Association, is a truly unique program housed on the campus of Hickman High School, Columbia, Missouri, USA. The largest student run space simulation in the nation, it uses an aerospace theme to provide a multidisciplinary learning experience which incorporates not only aerospace concepts, but also a knowledge of English, mathematics and science. The program ut

ilizes themes in context curriculum which allows students to experience aerospace principles first hand, and develop life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. Students begin each school year with instruction in aerostatics, aeronautics, and aerospace, and progress to working with CASA`s student-built replica of the International Space Station. In addition, students work in groups to complete upgrades of the program’s facilities to enhance the annual space simulation. Mentors from area businesses and the aerospace industry work with these groups of students, providing their expertise and knowledge of the intricate systems and complex aerospace principles students are studying.

The CASA mission is fast approaching! This year's name is Vesta and will take place January 25-29 from 9am-5pm and January 30th from 9am-12pm.

02/05/2015

CPS has called a late start tomorrow so high schools start around 11:00. CASA, however, will be starting at 9:00 like normal.

02/02/2015

It was just announced that CPS will not be in session tomorrow due to weather and icy conditions. Because of that, CASA will also not be in session on Monday. The mission will officially start Tuesday at 9. If any new developments come up, we will be sure to let you know.

Mission 2715 is almost here! The official kick off is 9:00 Monday morning, February 2nd. As always, we will be streaming live over our website, casasim.org.

Mission 2715 Cosmic Amalgamation, is the coming together of 5 countries inboard the ISS. The ESA, China, India, Russia and Japan all get one day aboard the ISS to show their way to best utilize the resources the ISS has to offer. The countries are graded on a point scale, and points are awarded for idea, budget, innovation and use of technology. The winner is awarded with a prolong stay in the ISS after the mission.

We welcome everyone to take a look at the live feed or stop by for a tour. Thanks!

We are still accepting mission applications until October 21st for anyone who missed the previous deadline.

We're very sad to hear of his passing. He was an amazing man and we were always grateful when he was able to come and speak to our classes and students.

Very sad to report today that former astronaut Steve Nagel passed away last night after a long battle with cancer. Please keep Linda, Lauren, friends, family and crewmates in your thoughts.
