Power generation sits at the center of the energy transition.

The emissions challenges in power generation, such as combustion exhaust, thermal noise, and cooling water discharge, are not new problems. What has changed is the operating context. The grid is becoming more complex, with a mix of generation sources that creates new cycling demands on plants that were designed for steady-state operation. Facilities that used to run at baseload are now ramping up and down to balance intermittent renewables.

That cycling changes the environmental engineering equation. Systems designed for stable operating conditions perform differently under variable load. Emissions profiles shift. Thermal stresses on equipment change. The maintenance cycle shortens.

At that level, standard HVAC does nothing useful. Fabs running EUV and DUV tools need chemical filtration integrated directly into the air system. Additionally, HEPA filtration and dedicated capture of VOC emissions from spin coating and resist stripping. CECO builds exactly that combination. The cleaner the air, the higher the yield.

Combine water with trace impurities and oxygen, and you get acidic conditions that corrode infrastructure, threaten injection wells, and put safe transport at risk. Captured CO₂ must meet strict purity specs before compression or storage, and getting there is not optional.

Industrial wastewater treatment isn't one process, it's five: separation, filtration, disinfection, reuse and heat reclamation, each solving a different stage of the same discharge or reuse requirement.

Separation removes oil and solids at the source. Filtration, from reverse osmosis to membrane bioreactors, handles what separation leaves behind. Disinfection treats the water without generating chemical byproducts. Reuse systems recycle process or produced water back into operations. Heat reclamation captures thermal energy before it's lost to discharge.
