334th Eagle Squadron

334th Eagle Squadron 334th Fighter Squadron " Eagles" , 4th Fighter Group , 8th AF. (QP) (Former RAF 71 Squadron) This made it the oldest fighter group in the Eighth Airforce.

Debden was home to the top-scoring "Eagles" of the American 4th Fighter Group from September 1942 to July 1945. Debden became known as The Eagles Nest because the base was home to the 4th FG, formed from the RAF's three Eagle squadrons (Number 71, 121 and 133) which were manned by American volunteer pilots before the USA officially entered the War. The 4th Fighter Group was part of the 65th Fighte

r Wing, and its USAAF Squadron designations became 334, 335 and 336. The 4th Fighter Group claimed 583 air and 469 ground enemy aircraft destroyed, the highest total of the USAAF. 241 of its own fighters were lost. The Eagles flew Spitfires until April 1943, then P47 Thunderbolts until February 1944, when they converted to P51 Mustangs

Completed the P51 Mustang illustration for the “Aircraft Pinup” series I’ve been working on. Not sure which aircraft I’ll illustrate next. I still have pencil illustration of Johnnie Johnson and his Spitfire sitting on my drawing table I need to continue working on. However it’s getting more difficult to lean over my drafting table to work on it. Cheers!

I’ve started on work on Johnnie Johnson’s Spitfire but haven’t gotten very far due to my hip which I’m having replaced next month. It’s incredibly difficult standing around my drafting table trying to work on the illustration. I suspect it’ll be a couple months before I can start working on the Spitfire again. Cheers!

The B25 Load Out illustration is pretty much done and should make a nice addition to the “Aircraft Pinup” series. I started this B25 project back in mid October...it took about the same amount of time to create the B25 as the B17 illustration. Cheers!
