Who is Hank Darby?

Legend has it that Hank Darby was the first man to ever wear a bowler hat onto the floor of the House of Lords. That he once crossed the Strait of Gibraltar using his largest hat as a row boat. That his return to the US fashion scene set off the Great American Top Hat Arms Race that helped jump-start the Roaring 20’s. From his many wild and wonderful tales, Hank Darby is known the world over as a keen collector and bearer of the world’s most stylish and incomparable hats. In this way, would you like to be a Hank Darby?

How We Got Started

As an avid hiker, climber, skier, and cyclist, Hank grew up loving the outdoors and representing the places he’d visited by donning their apparel. Of particular interest to him was the small batch artistic patches that were available to adorn peoples’ clothing in small ski towns across the Rockies or the cities you might float past on a Texas river. After fully covering his backpack with a cornucopia of patches, he moved his efforts on to exhibiting his patches on his favorite hat. After many years and several amateur, successful-adjacent attempts to reverse engineer a hat that showcased his wide array of collected keepsake patches, Hank founded Hank Darby Co. - Small batches made with love. Now everyone can enjoy a professionally made hat capable of showcasing an infinite array of themes, teams, places, and more.
