Water Service Line Installation & Backflow Replacement – Mesquite, TX 75149

On 9/25/25, our team completed a water service line installation for a homeowner in Mesquite, TX 75149. This project involved a 40-foot trench, exposing the water meter, double check backflow preventer, and valve assembly. We installed a new double check backflow device, a new meter connector, and a new valve assembly, then ran a Uponor water service line from the backflow to the valve.

All plumbing lines were insulated and a tracing wire was added for accurate future locating. After pressure testing the water service line, no leaks were found. The backflow inspection is scheduled for Monday, with the plumbing inspection to follow.

✅ If you need water line replacement, backflow installation, or plumbing inspection services in Mesquite, TX, trust Swan Electric, Plumbing Heating & Air to get the job done right.

Power Surges Happen More Than You Think — Protect Your A/C
One surge can fry your system’s brain.
Texas heatwaves often come with peak energy demands, and that means power surges. A surge can damage your compressor, control board, or blower motor — especially if your system is older. Installing a whole-home or individual surge protector for your HVAC unit is a smart way to avoid catastrophic damage. It’s one of those things you hope you never need, but are grateful to have when it counts.

Stay Hydrated — It’s Not Just About Comfort, It’s About Efficiency
Your body needs help staying cool, and so does your A/C.
In high heat, your body works overtime to regulate temperature. If you're dehydrated, it’s harder to stay cool, which means you're more likely to crank the thermostat down. But that just shifts the burden to your HVAC system. Staying properly hydrated helps your natural cooling process work better, reducing the temptation to overuse your A/C and keeping energy bills in check.

Uneven Cooling or Weak Airflow? You Might Have Duct Leaks.
Cool air could be escaping before it ever reaches you.
If one room is freezing and another is warm, or if your vents feel weak, it may not be your A/C — it could be your ducts. Gaps, leaks, or crushed sections can spill cooled air into the attic or walls, wasting energy and forcing your system to run longer to reach your desired temp. Periodic duct inspections help catch these issues before they shorten the life of your system and your wallet.

Cooking Indoors? You Might Be Overheating Your Entire Home.
Appliances like ovens, dryers, and stovetops add real heat.
Running your oven for dinner can spike your indoor temperature by several degrees, forcing your A/C to work longer into the evening to recover. Consider grilling outside, using slow cookers, or prepping cold meals during peak heat. Same goes for laundry: run washers/dryers early morning or after sunset. Every bit of indoor heat you avoid keeps your system from overcompensating.

Set Your Ceiling Fans the Right Way — It Actually Matters
Yes, direction makes a difference.
Your fan should spin counterclockwise in summer. This creates a wind-chill effect that helps your body feel cooler without adjusting the thermostat. When used correctly, fans allow you to bump up the temp 2–3 degrees while still feeling just as comfortable — taking pressure off your A/C unit and lowering your energy use. It's one of the most overlooked efficiency hacks during heat waves.

Letting the Sun Pour In? You’re Heating Your House From the Inside.
Direct sunlight can raise indoor temps by 10–15°F.
The more heat that comes through your windows, the harder your A/C has to work to bring it back down. By simply closing blinds or curtains — especially on south- and west-facing windows during the hottest part of the day — you block radiant heat before it gets inside. It’s one of the easiest ways to help your system stay ahead of the curve, reduce cycling time, and maintain comfort longer.

Is Your Thermostat Secretly Shortening Your System’s Life?
Extreme settings can quietly wear down your unit.
It’s tempting to set your thermostat to 68°F when it’s 97° outside, but that creates a massive workload on your system. Instead, aim for 76–78°F while home and 85°F when away. Consistent moderate settings allow your system to cycle properly without nonstop strain. Over time, this reduces wear and tear on key components and helps prevent burnout when you need cooling the most.
