The Story of Silk Road Construction, LLC

Jeremy & Caressa Hall are the founders of Silk Road Construction, LLC. Jeremy is the General Contractor and Financial Manager & Caressa oversees operations. Together, they endeavor to honor their neighbors through hard work done with integrity. The story of SRC begins with the story of Jeremy:

Jeremy was born to two artists: Devan and Toni Hall. His fathe

r, Devan, was a 6th generation brick/stone mason and a talented craftsman. From a very young age, Jeremy accompanied his dad to various construction sites. He watched for many years as his father and other talented workmen crafted and created something from seemingly nothing. As Jeremy grew older, naturally he sought to create a legacy of his own. He went to work for an HVAC company and learned a new trade. Starting from “zero,” Jeremy learned the ins and outs of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, leading a team and eventually management. Jeremy worked to become the Regional Manager for a nation-wide HVAC company and thrived in his role there, until the economic downslide, when the company began downsizing and needed to close several of their national offices. Around that time, Jeremy and a business partner began a replacement window and door company, and within six months an HVAC company. The venture failed due to Jeremy’s pride, greed, and poor choices - destroying relationships, and undermining trust that customers had put in the company. Jeremy came face to face with the sin and brokenness in his life and by grace he came to repentance, and to believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of his sins. He then sought to sin no more (John 8:11) and he entered a season of hard labor, working steadily and literally with his hands (Ephesians 4:28) alongside his dad. Through those years of working with brick and stone, in the hot Texas sun, the LORD worked in Jeremy’s heart to make him more like Christ. It was a slow and steady process through which Jeremy learned to love honesty, integrity, and quality, detailed work. It was a long season that had an inexpressibly rich impact on who Jeremy is and why he works as he does, even today - 20 years later. Slowly, after that time, the Lord began to bring work to Jeremy. As Jeremy interacted with people in his church and neighborhood, they would share what was needed in their home or lives. Jeremy saw a way that he could care for them with the skills he had learned and acquired. With no intentions of starting a business, the LORD slowly began to build one for Jeremy and by word of mouth, Jeremy had enough work to begin a company called Innovative Construction Services, LLC. At the same time, the LORD was growing in Jeremy and his family, a desire to impact the world with the hope of the gospel and Jeremy began attending university at Dallas Baptist University (DBU), in preparation to move his family overseas. Jeremy’s business continued to grow and Jeremy graduated from DBU with a degree in Business in December of 2013. By then, he and his family had sold their belongings and were prepared to move overseas. Jeremy released Innovative Construction Services in April of 2014 and they moved their family to Asia the following month: May 2014. Jeremy & Caressa's family lived in far northwest China, among the beautiful Uyghur (pronounced: wee-gehrr) people of XinJiang, on the old historical Silk Road. Jeremy was able to use his business degree and skills while living among such a precious people and loved doing so. Unfortunately, the Strike Hard Campaign (as seen in the media) brought a lot of oppression to the Uyghur. Foreigners were pushed out and Jeremy & Caressa's family had to leave the place and people they had followed God to live amongst and love. Trusting that God is sovereign, they moved family to Germany to spend a season as dorm parents at the boarding school where their oldest daughter had spent her freshman year of high school. Jeremy & Caressa served for two years, with their children, in the global ministry of the gospel by caring for the children of global workers. Jeremy & Caressa and continued to grow and serve through managing a team of staff, and the resources necessary to run a boarding home of 26 children and 5 staff. Jeremy continued to put his construction skills to use by caring for the property of a historical building and performing construction duties for the Black Forest Academy properties

While Jeremy, Caressa & and their family loved serving at Black Forest Academy (BFA), they knew that their time at BFA was temporary, to fill in while BFA continued their search for long term dorm parents. Their heart continued to be burdened for the oppressed; however, as the Lord closed the doors to continuing work overseas, for the time being, a dream grew in Jeremy’s heart and mind for how his background could serve the Kingdom and the hurting world-wide. They returned to Texas in summer of 2019, and began a new construction company...

Having lived on the Silk Road, read many books about its history and growing a special affection for the peoples represented along it, Jeremy and Caressa knew that whatever they did in America (also called “The West”) that they would pursue God for it to impact those in “The East” and, that they would seek to share the beauty and wisdom of believers from “The East” with the people of “The West.”
As Jeremy & Caressa continued to seek God about the future of his family and God’s will, he knew that whatever they did, they should seek first the kingdom of heaven. This is at the very heart of Silk Road Construction and the reason for the name! Jeremy, Caressa and all the staff at Silk Road Construction, desire to work as unto the Lord, with special intentionality to acting with humility, honesty and integrity while crafting, building, creating and repairing - for each of our customers. Silk Road Construction is excited to direct a percentage of revenue from every job that we work on to justice and mercy in the world - wether by feeding the hungry or partnering with NGOs who are engaging in these important humanitarian works. We would love for you to become apart of Silk Road Construction’s story!
