When customers ask me what brand I recommend, I tell them that American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning is at the very top of my list.
Why?
Because I service and repair just about every brand out there and after my experiences with every other brand, I wouldn’t put anything on my own house except for American Standard.
For one, they own Trane so the parts are easy to come by and interchangeable. Two, the customer service is next to none. Three, the support for their local dealers is top notch. Four, their warranty is pretty much the same as all the other brands (10 years all parts). But in the rare event that I need a warranty part, they are quick to get it to me with a focus on making sure the customer is taken care of first and foremost. Paperwork comes later. (Thanks Shearer Supply, Inc)
Every other brand seems to be unhelpful and a pain to deal with on warranty replacement.
When I need technical assistance in the field I have access to a helpful and knowledgeable resource. That resource hotline can get pretty busy but they have an automated call back system, so it’s no big deal.
As opposed to say Lennox who I have been on hold with for over hour waiting for help (as I write this post).
Here is my quick ranking of brands out there
1. American Standard (For reasons stated above)
2. Trane (Same as American Standard but different label. Think Lexus/Toyota)
3. Carrier (decent equipment but horrible support and service. Also very pricey replacement parts)
4. Ruud Heating, Cooling & Water Heating (pretty average across the board)
5. Lennox (Used to be good but I have had to replace a lot of coils that had a leak within the first 5 years)
6. Goodman (Builder grade. Bad customer service. Don’t care about customers. Not a fan at all)
Update. Lennox finally answered, so I’ll stop typing now.
