Alaska has well-known antimony potential, which is why our work today is focused on responsible exploration.

Our team is evaluating historical mining areas, collecting geological data and conducting seasonal fieldwork to better understand the resource. The information we gather today helps inform future decisions while supporting responsible exploration and open communication with the Fairbanks community.

Energy and infrastructure are key to unlocking Alaska’s mineral potential.

USAC Assistant Vice President of Geology Rebecca Gower recently joined mining industry leaders in Fairbanks for a U.S. Department of Energy roundtable with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright focused on the connection between mining and energy in Alaska.

The discussion highlighted high energy costs and limited transmission infrastructure as major barriers to mineral development, as well as the opportunity for investments in energy and mining to support one another.

Have you ever wondered what exploration can look like? This photo shows the size of a completed exploration drill hole before reclamation. Drilling is one of the ways geologists conduct mineral exploration, allowing them to collect valuable information about what's beneath the surface while disturbing only a small area.

Once exploration work is complete, drill holes are sealed and the site is reclaimed in accordance with permit requirements. It's all part of conducting responsible exploration while minimizing impacts on the surrounding land.

Exploration doesn’t happen on its own. It happens alongside the people who live, work and recreate in the area.

In a new piece published in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, USAC Assistant Vice President of Geology Rebecca Gower shares what she has learned about the importance of listening to the community, providing clear information and staying available as exploration continues at Ester Dome.

As Rebecca writes, good projects depend on good partnerships, and those partnerships are built through transparency, respect and a willingness to keep listening.

One thing I’ve learned over more than 20 years as a geologist is that exploration doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens alongside communities, public agencies, local roads, recreational trails and

Antimony production is gaining momentum at Stibnite Hill. ⛏️

Since resuming mining operations at Stibnite Hill in April, United States Antimony Corporation has transported approximately 576 tons of antimony-bearing ore for processing.

At the current operating rate, about 42 tons of ore are being moved per operating day, more than twice the daily rate of last year’s mining campaign.

The ore is transported to USAC’s Radersburg mill for processing, helping increase the company’s access to domestically sourced antimony and reduce reliance on third-party and foreign ore purchases.

Exploration terms 101: What is trenching?

When people hear the word trenching, they often picture long, deep excavations.

In exploration, trenching is much smaller in scale. It involves carefully removing a limited amount of soil and rock to expose what's beneath the surface so geologists can study the geology and collect samples.

Once the work is complete, trenches are backfilled and reclaimed in accordance with permit requirements. ✅
