In South Florida, with a temperature of 92°F and the typical June humidity levels (60–70% or higher), the outdoor heat index usually ranges between 102°F and 108°F (39–42°C). 🌡️☀️

That’s why, even though the air temperature is 92°F, your body can feel significantly hotter due to direct solar radiation and heat reflected from surrounding surfaces.

For HVAC work, roofing, or any outdoor labor under these conditions .

Based on the photo, this appears to be a white commercial TPO/PVC roofing system, which reflects significantly more heat than a dark-colored roof. ☀️

With the conditions shown:

* Air temperature: 92°F
* Strong afternoon sun in West Palm Beach
* High humidity
* White reflective roof surface

My estimate would be:

* 🌡️ Roof surface temperature: approximately 115°F to 135°F (46°C to 57°C).
* 🥵 Perceived heat for someone working on the roof: around 105°F to 115°F (40°C to 46°C) due to the combination of heat, humidity, and reflected solar radiation.

The good news is that a white reflective roof can be 20°F to 40°F cooler than a black roof under the same conditions.

If an HVAC technician is working up there right now, the biggest concern isn’t usually burns from the roof surface—it’s heat exhaustion and dehydration caused by Florida’s humidity. Under these conditions, a worker can easily lose more than a liter of water per hour during physical activity.

The video also shows very little shade, so exposure to direct sunlight is essentially constant throughout the work area. ☀️🔥
