We are Zero Impact Pro (ZIP), a senior design team of Mechanical Engineers at the University of Colorado-Denver. We are building a diesel prototype vehicle to compete in the Shell Eco-marathon Americas in Detroit in April 2016 (www.shell.com/semamericas). The Shell Eco-marathon is a design competition where engineering students design, build, and race prototype vehicles with the goal of achieving
the highest fuel economy. The competition features several energy categories including gasoline, battery-powered, and hydrogen fuel-cell. In the past, CU Denver has successfully competed with a hydrogen fuel cell prototype. Last year the winner of the diesel category achieved an awesome 1436 miles per gallon. Our goal is to beat that mileage with at least 1800 miles per gallon. We also hope to win the design competition for our innovative approach. Our design for the vehicle requires a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque body with a high efficiency diesel engine. We estimate the cost of the engine, materials, parts, tools, and entrance fees to be around $10,000. We are asking for your help to reach this sizable goal. Even small donations would be greatly appreciated. All sponsors will receive honorable mention on the team’s social media as well as a certificate of appreciation to proudly display. Sizable donations are eligible for the display of your company logo on the vehicle and team t-shirts. We very much look forward to the opportunity to promote your generosity. With your support we can utilize this educational opportunity to explore present technologies and new ideas for the future. Thank you for your time and consideration.
