THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS when you pour fats, oils, and grease down the drain. Missouri recently announced that a grease blockage in the city’s sewage line had caused 10,400 gallons of the sewage to spill into the Missouri River - Fats, oils, and grease should be poured into a sealed jar and placed in the trash bin or taken to a SAFE Center.

Have you checked the furnace exhaust pipe that vents outside your home to make sure it is not blocked with snow or ice? Blocked vents can trap carbon monoxide fumes in your home. Contaminated recycling is worthless, the city needs the money. When in doubt, throw it out! - Put no plastic bags, disposable drinking cups either paper or plastic, or pizza boxes in the bin & separate items, not bagged. Remove styrofoam & bubble wrap from cardboard boxes.

While many items are recyclable through the Curb It! program, not everything can be tossed in your cart. In fact, when some of those non-recyclable items wind up in recycling carts, the value of all recycling goes down.
